In 1997, Living with Lions - the behind the scenes story of the British & Irish Lions Tour of South Africa - was acclaimed as one of the greatest sports films ever made. Now, 12 years on, the Lions are back in South Africa and so are our film crew, recording every minute of what was one of the greatest Lions Test Series of all time. With unprecedented access to all areas of the Tour, Living with the Pride is the most intimate, honest and intense portrait of life as a Lion ever produced. From the Pennyhill Park training camp to the magnificent final Test victory in Johannesburg, this is the inside story of how players who are normally the fiercest of opponents turned themselves into a band of brothers desperate to restore pride to The Jersey. Their grueling 10-match tour of the World Champions' back yard asked questions of the players' mental and physical strength like never before. Lions legend and Head Coach Ian McGeechan worked closely with our film crew to make an astonishing no-holds-barred documentary. With access to every player, an open door to every team meeting, training session, selection meeting as well as excusive access to the passion, fury and ultimately elation of the Lions dressing room, this is a unique and uncompromising insight into life on a Lions Tour, described by Tour Manager Gerald Davies as 'The last great adventure in rugby'. No Lions Series has ever been closer, with many commentators describing the second Test as 'the greatest rugby match ever'. Sometimes hilarious, but often brutal, bruising and moving, Living With The Pride is the official and exclusive behind the scenes story of one of the most exhilarating, emotional and memorable sports tours of all time. Over 100 minutes of DVD extras including Review: Living with the Pride - Considering the length of the Tour the DVD covered I thought it was a really good review and had a good balance between the rugby action, behind the scenes activity and player portrayal. Other DVDs will cover the Test and match action in detail but this `is what it says on the box`.Brings out the tension of the Test matches and the intensity of the coaching team as well as the bonding and man management required for a successful tour. The Lions are totally unique and long may they last. I was lucky enough to be out there for two weeks and if you get the chance to go DO IT!!!. Absolutely fantastic experience not to be missed. Review: Lions should be proud - A really good insight into how the British and Irish Lions were chosen to go to South Africa. The team talks, meetings and team buildings were given by those with so much experience and dedication that you could feel you were part of the squad. You could also feel for them when decisions didn't go their way, and in some cases the unfairness of them too. Each squad member should feel proud of their part in the tour, and although we all knew the result of the games before watching the film, you still felt they were going to win the first two tests. Excellent film.

totally absorbing
As someone who loves the Lions and all it stands for this DVD just confirms how strong and committed the players and coaches were to beat the Boks. Once your ten mins in to this you start to relive the emotions the boys went through all over again. Make's you want to dust off the old boots and play again.....well almost. It's interesting, fun, inspiring and tence even though you know the final out come. Definatly worth a watch.

Crushing Disappointment
Not a patch on Living With Lions. Not enough match action, player cam very childish. This DVD will reinforce the non-rugby fans' view that rugger buggers are just boorish & foul mouthed. Have subsequently sold it on eBay!

Fantastic but would have liked a bit more
First things first, if it's a match highlights DVD you're after, this is NOT the DVD for you. However, if you want an insight into what life on a Lions tour is like, and the emotions that come along with it, then this DVD is perfect. Disc 1 - the main disc - gives you a great insight into the camaraderie and rollercoaster of emotions that players and management alike experience on a Lions tour. There's plenty of high jinks and funny moments - such as some of the Irish lads trying to chat up the cheerleaders - as well as the more emotional moments, such as head coach Ian McGeechan sobbing into Graham Rowntree's shoulder after the heartbreak of losing the first two Test matches. You witness the players train, bond andd also enjoy a bit of down time, with activities such as going on a safari ride and visiting local schools. I would have liked to have seen a few more minutes of actual game time (in particular the three Test matches) on the DVD, although I thought it did a good job to capture the atmosphere pre-match, at half time and post-match. Be warned though, there is a LOT of swearing on this disc, particularly during the pre-matches pep talks, so it isn't suitable for younger fans. Disc 2 contains the extras - the squad announcement, some training sessions, some of the bacroom staff and the speeches in full. The vast majority of this disc is taken up with the speeches (mostly by McGeechan. I felt that the training session clips were too short and I would have liked to have seen more than just three as well, although I thought Rowntree's scrum session was actually really interesting. You don't really get to meet many of the backroom staff, but I must admit the clip with the chef teaching a couple of the players to make everyone's favourite chocolate treats was rather amusing. I would have preferred it if the squad announcement ad either been at the start of this disc or, even better, the first disc - I don't really understand why they chucked it into the middle of the bonus disc. As a few reviewers have mentioned, it tends to be the same players in front of the camera, but it's great to see the team bonding so well and having such a great time whilst on tour. Overall, whilst I would have preferred to have seen more footage of elements such as the matches and the training sessions etc, it was a fascinating, funny and often moving insight into what it's really like to be a Lion.
