Love this!
This is a great product. I tried this as an alternative to the Daily Defense Moisturizer. As someone who is menopausal and has lots of symptoms, I sweat out of the top of my head a lot. I mean A LOT. Like a waterfall. I was getting frustrated with the fact that I was wiping my daily moisturizer off when I sweat, so I decided to try this product. This is so nice. It's really lightweight and goes on so smoothly. It's got a slight silicone-like feel, but it's not sticky or too slick. Also the smell is not too fragrant. No matter how much my head leaks, that stuff stays on and keeps my face covered. It's now my go-to for days when I know I'm going to need something waterproof. One thing to note: When you initially put it on, it does have a light white cast to it. But it eventually fades away after a few minutes. I have a medium skin tone and a few minutes after putting it on, it's no longer noticeable.

Great Broad Spectrum Protection for the Face
Five stars for the excellent broad spectrum protection it provides. And for the fact it has an excellent EWG rating. And for the fact that it does not leave a white cast. I have very fair skin, but even so, many mineral sunscreens I have tried have left a white/blue cast. Not this one. It actually looks like a very pale nude shade coming out of the tube and that disappears into the skin. It is very slippery. You have to rub it in well. If I'm not going to put anything else on my face, I can just rub this in and go. It will feel moist to the touch for an hour or two. I usually set it with a finishing powder but even then it will remain moist to the touch for a while. But it makes it easier to apply a powder blush without it grabbing too much of the blush and giving me clown cheeks. Even though it feels moist to the touch for awhile, it does not give a moist or dewy or god forbid greasy appearance. It is fairly matte. but I have normal to slightly dry skin. Might be different on oily skin. Bottom line, even though I don't really care for the initially moist feel it has when I touch my face, I love the look of it and I love the truly excellent protection it gives. I am obsessed with daily sunscreen protection and have been for nearly 20 years. I've tried dozens. They get better and better and there are other really good ones out there. EltaMD all mineral spf 47 is hard to beat for a face, neck, body application. As is Thinkbaby. But this MDSolar product is my choice at present for a daily facial application. I love it.

TL;DR - Works for face with no white tint, but a bit greasy
I needed a moisturizing sunscreen for daily facial use that my husband and I can both use. I decided to give this product a try even though it's supposed to be for the body. I also use the Mineral Creme SPF 50 (pink tube) from MDSolarSciences, which dries a little more matte. Both are kinda spendy, but because it's a 4oz tube the price per ounce ends up being comparable to other facial products. (This review is good for either product, and is cross-posted.) This sunscreen looks and feels fairly thick, with an off-white/cream tint. The ceramides and silicones give it a lot of slip on the skin, and it stays slightly sticky to the touch - it never really seems to dry. However, it blends quite well for fair to medium skin tones, and works under a powder foundation. It isn't moisturizing enough to use on its own (I have combination/oily skin, and my husband's is normal/dry), but it is more moisturizing than the Mineral Creme version. I tend to use the Moisture Defense in winter when it's less humid, and the Mineral Creme in the summer when it's more humid. You should use an antioxidant-rich, oil-free, silicone-free moisturizer as a base layer, and here's why: 1) Antioxidants will boost the SPF power of your sunscreen, 2) Oil is the enemy of mineral sunscreens, 3) This sunscreen has a lot of silicones already and it doesn't set well over a first layer of silicones IME. (I've been using Trader Joe's Antioxidant Moisturizer plus Alpha Skin Care Nourishing Eye Cream, and it works pretty well). This brand takes a good five minutes to dry/set completely, but then I can apply makeup over the top. I use a powder foundation, which helps the sunscreen set. I also don't apply the sunscreen to my eyelash line, which helps eye makeup stay in place. Definitely don't get the sunscreen on your eyelashes if you plan to apply mascara, and use a powder foundation before a brow pencil. Zinc sunscreen can be drying, so you really do need to clean it off at the end of the day and only oil-cleansing works on mineral sunscreen. I like to use a warm microfiber washcloth to rinse, or sometimes a face wash (aka double-cleansing). Definitely apply a moisturizer or lotion afterward. Overall it's more work than using a chemical sunscreen but I think it's worth it. This product is one of the better ones I've tried for facial use - it has a higher percentage of zinc, doesn't dry out my skin too much, and comes at a pretty good price per ounce.

Amazing
My LO is very fair [strawberry blond on right hand side in photo]. We used to use a different high rated "natural" product, but ended up trying MD Solar Sciences after LO had a photosensitive reaction to the other product. We have not looked at anything else after getting this. No reactions at all. Use it all the time and LO has never burned. Doesn't mind having it put on either, which is huge. Texture is silky and rubs in very easily. I hated the paste like sunscreens. Haven't had it stain clothes, but I am also careful and if it has come into contact with clothes, it has come out. Only negative is that it sometimes separates which is easily fixed by shaking. [We have multiple tubes going and one in backpack is exposed to temperature fluctuations which may be why issue. But still protects fair skin like crazy]. Love!

The description of the product itself is great. However, I am very disappointed in the handling. First, the product inf misses that it is for body only instead of face. Second, although I bought it on Australia Amazon, the return label requests to send it back to US address, and at my own costs, which is a significant portion of the goods value.

It blends in very well, there is a tiny bit of white cast initially, however it fades away after sometime (which is unusual for physical sunscreens). This leaves the skin moistured, very effective for dry and sensitive skin. As this can be applied to both face and body, it is very convenient and cost effective.
