This is a really high quality brush. The other reviews mention it being softer than a standard dandy brush, but this is actually why I bought it. And actually, it's only a small amount less stiff, but it really makes a big difference. My rule is if it's too rough to run over the palm of my hands, it's too rough for the horse. Most dandy brushes have the same kind of bristles as toilet brushes and other household cleaning brushes, and that's quite frankly not something I'd want rubbed on my skin. In terms of being kind to the horse and still getting the job of a dandy brush done, I couldn't recommend this brush more.

Bought this to brush dirt off clothing after work at the farm. I’m pleased with this purchase. My only issue is the bristles are not as firm as I had hoped. I might shop more hands on at a hardware store for this type of brush.

It’s almost great but it’s not. Good build. Sturdy. Classy looking. BUT the bristles are way too soft for a horse brush. They just lay down on each stroke. You will absolutely not move dust and dirt out of the coat with this brush. It might be okay after a bath and coat slicking spray, but not for your every day applications. Stiffen up those bristles and you’ll be on to something.

Our dogs beg us to brush them, it is a very good comfort brush. It won't take out matts but does remove loose debris.
