D'Addario Electric Guitar Strings, NYXL Nickel Plated, NYXL0980, Super Light Gauge 09-80, 8-String Set, Pack of 1

THE set of strings for 8-string guitars. I personally don't think there's a better 8-string set for guitars with decently long scale length (at least 26.5" but preferably 28"+). On my Schector C-8 Deluxe with a 28" scale length, tuned to drop Eb (standard flat tuning with a dropped low string: Eb Bb Eb Ab Db Gb Bb eb). I've had these string on a while now and played them a lot and they still feel fresh and still sound bright and punchy. I don't sweat much but even the more 'biologically corrosive' people will notice a difference. They do feel slightly different than normal D'addarios, a little more rubbery but I stopped noticing after about 5 minutes enjoy them a lot. They are worth the extra money to me. Mostly because of the selected gauges but also the NYXL formula.

Really really good strings dont let the price put you off absolutely solid strings that sound great and that can handle most tunings without losing that tone.

I've been playing guitar for over 20 years, tried many different brands and always come back to d'addario. The NYXL strings are brighter and stronger than the regular XL but I'm not sure they are 100% worth the price increase. Definitely worth it for a treat or when you need the best for recording though.

Great strings as usual from D'addario. However, the back of the package states that a 30 inch guitar was used to get the string tensions, but these strings are not long enough for a 30 inch scale guitar. The taper ends way before the nut on the two lowest strings

I bought these strings for my ESP LTD SC-608b and they are a huge improvement over the 10-74 sets. The added tension brings a whole new level of attack to the guitar and the NYXL finish means these strings will last longer than regular and sound brighter for longer. One thing I should add, is that the .80 string did require me to file the machine head out slightly to allow it to fit through. Something worth noting, but I'm aware that it won't affect everybody. I will also add that D'Addario's CS is brilliant and they are more than happy to assist you if you ever break a string and require a replacement when installing (like me...) Overall, I really recommend these strings over the standard 10-74 gauge. They are a real, noticeable improvement and you will not go back.
