Not for some cases...
This is a great quality product from well-known reputable company, a PSU with great modularity and great performance, and frankly a good value. Lots of connectors and on the shift model, if that's what you're looking at side mounted connection points. Here's where the details come in. Is this PSU is primarily for cases with side mounted PSU slots, while in a wider case this might work in a flat mount situation, most likely you are going to need a fairly wide case to house the wiring coming off the supply without bending the wires too much. Even then in some side mount cases, or the PSU is mounted on its side, the wires sticking upright can still impede on certain things, for example with the Lian-Li o11 dynamic XL, The upright facing ports for the connectors on the wires to plug into impede with the bottom hot swap hard drive bay. Now if I really wanted to press the wires down flat against the power supply unit I could probably still fit the hot swap bay in the case, but it wouldn't give much room for the wires, nor allow for much passive heat dissipation from the PSU. In this particular instance with the case I chose a standard end connector output PSU would have been the better choice, as there is ample room at the end for wiring clutter, but due to the hot swap bay mounted above the power supply unit, the side output of the shift model is not intuitive for my case.Removal of the bottom hot swap bay in my case alleviated the issue, but also presents the inconvenience of not having all four hot swap bays available. I never thought I would use this feature, but over the years as I have acquired multiple hard drives and stored up massive amounts of data, it actually comes in handy for moving data back and forth between drives. So no stars docked for the design it's actually great, just really think about whether or not you need the side output connectors and whether or not you will have enough room in your case. They make it more convenient to plug and unplug additional wires without having to remove the power supply unit completely, however you may run into spacing issues in smaller cases.Situationally recommended.

Couldn't be happier; what a design!
I’ve always hated how traditional PSU cables connect — reaching around the back, cramming fingers into tight spaces. That’s why I was excited about the Corsair Shift 1200X’s side-access design, and I’m happy to report: in real-world use, it’s even more convenient than I expected.✅ Ease of installation: The side-mounted connectors make cable management a breeze, especially in larger cases where you have the rear panel clearance. For newer PC builders, this layout is much easier to work with compared to standard designs.⚠️ Important tip: Before you buy, check your case dimensions carefully. If you’re building in a micro-ATX or ITX case, measure twice — this PSU’s side-access layout requires extra clearance on the rear side panel that small cases may not have.✅ Noise & cooling: I can barely hear this PSU even under load, so I assume it’s cooling efficiently. No noticeable coil whine or fan ramping in my system.✅ Cabling quality: I was pleasantly surprised by the included Corsair Type 5 cables — they’re flexible, well-made, and didn’t make me feel the need to swap them for aftermarket ones.lling I figured I would do a cable swap but was actually satisfied by the quality of cables it came with already

Glad I chose this one
Runs my RTX 5080 and my i9 14900k seamlessless with lights and other accessories perfectly. This thing is a monster. She fits perfectly, actually better than I had expected when doing a measurement check before I ordered. It is quiet and I had to actually shine my light on it to be sure it was actually running ideally. Connections were perfect and sturdy.

Highest quality PSU, yet again
Corsair delivers again! This is the third time I've used a Corsair power unit for a self/custom build, and with EVGA gone, I will never stray from them again! I can't speak to their peripherals, but the power units are incredibly high quality, have decent tech support, and come with connectors that just about every enthusiast/custom builder would ever need. The cables can bit a little bit stiff, but they do sell (for a premium price) softer and more flexible cables on their site. I wish these custom cables were a little bit cheaper, but it does speak to how modular and high quality their PSUs are.

Seamless and future proof
The media could not be loaded. Made a full Corsair build and was able to chain all the components to the single controller and it works like a charm. Pretty expensive but beautiful and a dream to install. No issues with Performance and VERY future proof.I have an HP 45L prebuilt and swapped everything except case, CPU and GPU (I9-14900k & 4090)Maybe just an issue with my pre-build’s case but the screws were hard to align

Works, stable, silent - side mount nice - 4080/90 connector included
Does what it should. Powerful PC with lots of connections and 100% stable (as to be expected). Very silent. Side mounted cables are nice but not as trouble-free as I had expected. Its still a tight fit when you have a lot of cables and I did need a special connector to make ends meet. I am still sold to the side mount idea and if you have less stuff than I (the 98% will) it will be a huge advantage in cable management. Finally this comes with the special connector for the 4080/90, so no worry about melting plastic. [got the cheaper "as new" version - and mine was actually "new"]
