Oxford Essential Russian Dictionary: Russian - English and English - Russian

This dictionary has a wide variety of words in both languages as well as phrases to put them into the correct context. It is easy to read and clearly legible. As with other Oxford Dictionaries that I own (English-Greek and Greek-English) it is a valuable asset to the bookcase.

This item arrived promptly and is very reasonably priced and extremely useful to me. This dictionary is exactly the right level and size for a beginner to intermediate Russian learner and for day-to-day survival in a Russian-speaking country. My previous copy disappeared and I hope it is being useful to someone else. The new impression is slightly improved, with alphabetical markings in the margin. A very clear and concise dictionary. A great help when learning the language, as the dictionary is easy to follow and words are clearly shown with detailed definitions.

There seems to be a lack of choice when it comes to compact Russian dictionaries for beginners but this seems satisfactory, although the print is rather small for supplementary words and phrases.

My husband is a linguist and he is very pleased with this dictionary as a lot of his dictionaries are now worn out from use!

Good dictionary

I chose this rating because this dictionary is concise,practal,comprehensive, and easy to use. I can carry it around wherever I go and sit of an evening with it.

Very basic dictionary. Bought it for its clear typeface. Much easier to read than the 'pocket' version I bought before. Probably okay if you're learning Russian at home, prior to taking a trip abroad, but many everyday words missing - making it almost useless as a communication aid for Russia!
