A great option to take your cell phone video to the next level.
I generally don’t take video on cell phones. However, there are times where I just need something quick, especially out in the field, and I need to have a little better sound and lighting to match the other work it is up against. This is the perfect cage to enhance your cell phone video. It is super light but very sturdy and durable. You can have this toss around in your gear bag and not have to worry if it will be in one piece when you show up for the shoot. It has good handles on the side if you want to hold this and walk around with it, however you can also mount it on a tripod for much better stability. It even allows you to mount it vertically if you prefer however you may not have the same light distribution as you would with 1 light on each side of the lens as in the landscape orientation. There are plenty of attachments on top for lights and a mic without any crowding. The slider in the middle moves easily but grips your phone well and keeps everything steady even as you are tapping the screen. I still get worried that I will move things around and my phone will pop out and smash to the ground, but I feel like it locks in well. The clamp has a good range of adjustment to accommodate all phone sizes. I have some old small tablets but I haven’t tried any of them yet. My phones are all in cases and that didn’t impact its ability to grasp them. If you have a case with a weird edge or bevel or something I can’t say for sure if it will remain as secure. Mine has a nice thick square edge to grab onto. If you don’t use a case on your phone, there is enough protection on the cage to keep from marring your device. Invest in some small zip ties or Velcro ties for cable management. This is so light, easy to configure and portable, and with the improving quality of cell phone video, I may start doing more in that format now.

lightweight and functional, but has some doubts about its durability
I was a bit surprised with its lightweight when I received this rig. The rig was made of hard plastics. I feel being lightweight is good when I bring it on a hiking trip. However, since it's lightweight, I doubt its durability particularly the top and bottom part of this rig. I feel the bottom part with the universal thread can be broken easily when taking it off from the tripod. I like the feature of having a universal thread. I have a couple light-duty tripods and a carbon fiber tripod. I tried this rig, it fits all of those tripods very well. I can prove that the thread is universal and can be used for most of standard tripods. Other than its being made of hard plastics, I think this rig can be used for multiple purpose. For me, I mainly use it on a light-duty tripod for some family selfie photos when hiking in the national park. Another use is for the kid to take some photos for the family. With this rig, It can protect my iphone's screen from getting broken when falling off from kid's hands by accident. I think this rig provides some protection for iphone's screen if falling off on the ground by accident. My kid did drop my iphone on a rock and broke its screen by accident a couple years ago when taking a picture for me at a national park.

Affordable way to accessorize and stabilize your smartphone videos
The media could not be loaded. It's a way to give more stability and options when shooting videos with your cell phone. It's a big piece of plastic, Ten inches wide, five and a half thick and maybe two inches deep.Let's open this up, you can't get much simpler as this is just some plastic shrink wrap. There is a small piece of instructions here, kind of built in. And something went flying. There is a knob that I over loosened and it fell. This is spring loaded for the vise part that holds the phone. This will be easy to hold. It should be able to hold up to a 3.5 inches wide phone. Feeling the amount of resistance on the spring, you might not even need the screw done bolt that I accidently removed. It may have been slightly crooked when I loaded my phone. You can see the two brass mounts on the top that can be used for some lights and then some cold shoe mounts you could use for larger lights or microphones or other accessories.I'll mount a video light as you can see. I know this may look comedic as the light is actually larger than the rig. Let's zoom out, you can see the right and light. Holding the handles, I feel I Have good stability here. The quality of the plastic seems good and with the large light I've mounted I'm seeing no plastic deformations or twists.I'm going to rate this five out of five starsPros- Flexibility of mounts (screw mounts or cold shoe)- Sturdy- Simple to use- Good value for the moneyCons- The screw lock seems unnecessary- The screw was too easy to accidently remove
