Yes, the Optic has an etched recital that does not need batteries. If there is enough daylight for you to see your target, this optic should work just fine. Anytime I purchase an Optic, I always look for Optics with etched reticles.

Can it handle 45-70 lever?

...it could not take no more than 6 recoils of a Stoeger S8000 E Tac .177cal before it didn't know windage from elevation; I gave it too my 5 year old Granddaughter for her AR 15 lookalike...in one afternoon it was in the trash Hooyah.
