Brilliant piece of kit that has already saved us time and hassle.
As has been stated by other reviewers, this item is moderately fragile. The alloy is quite thin, and does not instill confidence in it's tensile strength. However, that being said, if this is used with care it works just fine. It took me about 20 minutes to install it on the wall, including finding an 8mm drill bit and it feels quite solid once mounted. There are four rubber gromits that fit on the back of this to cushion it against the wall, and I suppose to give it some cushioning from vibration in the wind. This also has the benefit of reducing vibration noise against the wall. The screws are adequate and fit the unit well enough with the supplied washers. You do need to use a reasonable amount of strength to pull this from the wall until the catch clicks into place, and of course as has been mentioned here - to lift it away from the wall to disengage the catch before folding it away. It is best to do this with a bit of caution, simply because the frame is not very solid, so is fairly easy to bend or buckle. There is no template for mounting this, which I think is something the company should supply. It's all well and good giving us the measurements on the sheet in small print with a small diagram of the mounting plate. I mean, how much extra cost is it to put in a paper template? It would save time and trouble for the customer. For myself I made my own template from the back place, rather than dismantling the thing or fiddling with the assembled unit to mark the holes. There is no fixed height to mount this unit, it is advised to mount it at a comfortable height, so the top of the mounting plate is slightly above the head of the person using it. When you see how it works, this makes a lot of sense. Once I showed my wife how this unit works, and how to release the catch again, she has been using this comfortably. We're both getting a lot of use out of this as the main rotary dryer is out the back of the property in the middle of the grass, this one is mounted closer to the back door at the end of the patio. It's easier to get to when the weather is questionable, and as it folds away neatly it doesn't interfere when we are sitting out there or entertaining. Once this is pulled out and locked, it is quite large and will take a fair amount of washing. For us this means that the larger household items can go on the bigger rotary dryer, and smalls, underoos, t-shirts and other washing can go on this thing. It does mean we get more washing done in a day which is a bonus in some ways and a bane in others (more ironing for instance...) This answered a need for us, and allows us to hang washing out on days when the weather is less than perfect, and dash out to grab it quick if there's rain, without a long sprint down the garden and a wet trudge back carrying a heavy load. I suspect that because of it's convenience it is going to get more use than the larger rotary dryer. Great idea, well made and finished. Some care needs to be taken when fitting and using this item because of the way it is constructed, but overall this is a very nice unit that has made our lives that little bit easier. As it folds away neatly into it's own housing - either the alloy box or the provided rain cover which clips to the sides and sits tight on the top cap and bottom of the legs, it is unobtrusive and tidies away neatly.

Works well highly recommended
Brilliant as ever. When i move i left the one i had behind and have missed it. No wonky rotary pole, no having to cut grass round wonky pole. Folds away neatly. Strong, robust. Holds large items like quilt covers, bath towels.

Works well
Item is great, casing is very thin and was dented when we got it out of the box. Had a struggle putting it away as there's a knack to doing it

Useful assembly tips
I’ve added some useful assembly tips further down and the photos relate to the tips. I’d spent quite some time looking for an outdoors solution. I was about to buy one of those retractable lines that fix to the wall but a lot of people had issues with the line sagging over time and the bottom plastic bits that the line wraps around breaking. I actually really wanted something that’d look nice (to fit in with when I redo the garden). Thankfully, I came across this wall fix solution. Even though the protective box version is more expensive it looks really modern and sleek. It’s stainless steel. Due to living near the coast I’m planning to buy protective oil to rub in (protects the stainless steel from salt water). Useful tips: I installed this on my own and it was very easy. 1. It’s not immediately clear from the instructions but screw the bottom 2 screws into the raw plugs in the wall until they’re sticking out by 1cm. This allows you to slot the dryer onto the wall and it’ll hang onto the wall comfortably. It’s designed to be installed this way. Once hanging on the wall you can move onto screwing the top 2 screws in. The black rubber things easily slide in between the plate and wall. 2. Don’t open the dryer until you’ve partly screwed in the top 2 screws as well. If you open it with only the bottom screws in place it will put a lot of strain on the top half. The wall bracket is strong metal so shouldn’t be a problem but just in case. You’ll probably need to open it fully eventually to screw in the top 2 screws more easily. 3. You don’t need to put the whole length of your screwdriver through the instrument they give you. This’ll make more sense when you’re doing it rather than reading it now. You’ll get more than enough leverage to screw the screws with the screwdriver in with it in just past the tip (see photo). If you have a long screwdriver and try turning the instrument with the screwdriver in completely you’ll probably come against the arms of the dryer as you’re twisting and it’ll take forever to screw the screws in all the way (you’ll only twist a small amount and have to readjust your screwdriver). By only putting the screwdriver in slightly you’ll have more room to twist and get it done quicker. A long paragraph for a simple observation, but I was doing it the other way first and it was taking ages! 4. Don’t be tempted to screw the screws in really tight. I did the bottom ones quite tight and when I came to put the doors on the bottom of the doors were touching the wall behind when opened out. It’d be easy to scratch the stainless steel like this. You can check if you’ve evenly tightened everything by looking at the gap between the top of the plate and the bottom of the plate. Remember there are those rubber things between the plate and wall. They squash as you tighten. My bottom ones were squashed a lot more than the top. I had to take the doors off and loosen the bottom screws slightly. They were still tight just not over-tightened. 5. Putting the doors on...best done after you’ve opened the dryer. I initially decided to put them on with the dryer in the collapsed position and despite my best efforts managed to get the clothes line stuck where the door had slotted in! I had to carefully tease the door off without it hitting the wall. Much easier to do when the lines are out of the way. A pole on the doors snaps onto the plastic cap and bottom you slide on. This is the only bit which is a bit flimsy feeling. It would have been nice if the plastic pieces (cap and bottom) could be more sturdy. I don’t think it’ll affect the function of the dryer but the doors don’t precisely/perfectly line up when closed...I think due to them being clipped to these plastic bits which are on the looser side compared to everything else. You can’t tell from a distance. Only when very up close. Overall - looks like a great item which folds away very neatly and actually looks nice in the garden even if it’s only a washing line. It comes with a 5 year guarantee once you register the product online. You have to type the barcode number in - will be on the box. Hopefully it lasts a long time.

Ideal as a space saver
I absolutely love it! I needed something that would save space in the garden and this is ideal. Very easy to install and very sturdy. Can easily hold a full load of washing. I did not have a wall that it could be mounted on so instead had it mounted to a wooden post.

Easy to use, good quality product
I love this! I have it mounted on to the garage wall in the garden, and it is so easy to open and close. Takes all my washing. Very good quality, sturdy and strong, worth the money for sure. If I wanted to nit pick, you have to be careful when folding away not to trap the airer wires in the protective covers as you close the cover/doors. Takes a couple of seconds to push them out the way, no biggie. Overall, this has made my life so much easier - so very quick to use and looks very neat and tidy when not in use. Highly recommend this space saving, easy to use product that leaves your garden free of poles, washing lines or large rotary airers blocking your view.

This product is one of those rare purchases that has improved the quality of workaday life. I enjoy the satisfaction in making a common task easier. This clothesline (I'm waxing about a clothesline?!) works well, it's solidly engineered for the task. It easily deploys and folds away so doesn't clutter the landscape, even a landscape where there's room to stretch. This dryer seems to handle all the laundry I throw at it. I can fit 3 loads, if some of the stuff is on hangers. That includes sheets. I live in a dry climate so I rarely have to leave a lot of wet laundry hanging, it dries so quickly. But I can toss a comforter, small area rug on it, and I've used it as a basket to hold bed pillows that need airing out and some sunshine. It's a terrific item, and paid for itself quickly in reduced machine dryer use. It's very sturdy and good for large households with a lot of laundry. At the same time, totally compact. If I have any criticism, it's that the Cordura cover is not as user-friendly as the dryer is. I like to leave all my clothespins on the dryer, and when folded, the cover doesn't fit as well with all the clothespins, and in any scenario it's difficult to snap on. I'd appreciate an improved cover. There is a metal cover available in the EU, I think. But it would probably not fit over my clothes pins. Nonetheless, when company is coming over, I can cover it well enough. Do yourself a favor and buy it. * Update: Three years later, my husband and I are still delighted with the functionality of this dryer. It is almost always deployed, and is only folded up when company comes over. We have unrelenting UV eleven months of the year or more. This exposure is unmerciful on various plastics, rubbers, fabrics, paints, and hard goods like chairs. But this folding clothesline is a freaking champ. Very hardy in the sun, wind, rain. No parts that rot or rust or mold. I'm very pleased. ** Second update 2021, almost to the day, 7 years after purchase: Something broke. It was the little part that holds the rig snapped open. Brabantia REPLACED THE ENTIRE DRYER, even though we only requested a part. What a wonderful company. They have my full appreciation and loyalty. (I bought their ironing board, which is also super-excellent.) As it happened, the line the clothes hang on was also in need of replacement. I bought some line, but found upon closer inspection that buying the replacement line from Brabantia would have been better, they include the little clips, it's not a simple matter of restringing with any line. Brabantia included the hard protective dryer cover, which is quite handsome, but will indeed not close with my clothespins on the line, so I remove them to properly stow the dryer. But wow, it looks nice, and functions so much better than the soft cover. I wish all the tools I use to complete daily tasks were as satisfying and functional. Kudos to a company that treats customers right--a rare attribute in today's marketplace.
