Good value oil for a ZF gearbox
used in an Audi 3.0 tdi with a tiptronic gearbox. Audi say sealed for life and thats nonsense they only care that it's out of warranty. ZF recommended 60k miles for a change their oil is expensive. I ask liqui Molly and they guaranteed thai as a replacement far cheaper than ZFs. Also it's mixed with ZF as I could not remove the ZF oil 100% probably 70-75% and it's been used now for almost a year no issues.

Good!
Used it for my Q7 2013 Aisin 0C8 gearbox. Chaged oil at the 90k miles mark and so far 7000 miles later I can't fault it. The box started kicking because German Autocentre did not drop the pan and never changed the filter at the 64k mark when asked. They just changed 5 litres max, where the full capacity is 12 litres. You can only change what's in the box, what is in the torque converter will remain unchanged. This led to the box being starved. After replacing about 8 litres using this Liqui Molly and a new filter fitted, the box went back to normal. I was almost ready to look at repairing it. I had some whining in 3rd which almost disappeared with this oil. I can only recommend it!

Seems decent Oil
Seems a good oil, used in the reduction of a nissan leaf for 40k miles and it came out clean and without significant contamination. The original nissan oil looked terrible after the same mileage.

Do not use in any Audi ZF gearbox!!!
Guys, save yourself the trouble and whatever you do don’t use this oil for any ZF related Audi gearbox. I bought this for my 2017 Audi A4 Avant 3.0 TDI 272PS which has the 8 speed box. Although this has the generic Audi oil part no. reference on the tub, it is not approved by VW group at all. Being clever I changed the oil on this particular car (I’m a well trained Audi specialist by the way), Audi don’t offer a service kit for this car as it’s allegedly “sealed for life”, which we all know is a load of rubbish hence why we buy such oils to do such maintenance. Anyway cutting a long story short my Audi did not like this oil at all, filled to the correct level and amount from what was taken out and this car drove so clunky and rough. On a cold morning there would be a violent shake from the gearbox and downshifting was literally clunky to a point where the car would “bang” on downshift. So it went back on the ramp, warmed up to 40 degrees as per Audi official service instructions, just to double check the level and it was all fine. After a lot of head scratching and reading online forums it seemed I was not the only one. This particular oil does not like to be mixed with any other oil, and you can never get all the existing oil out anyway. This small print is on the website as we speak. Audi wanted nearly an eye watering £50 a bottle of their genuine stuff so I just went ahead and bought the ZF genuine service kit for a fraction of the cost, after all they do make the gearbox. Did the oil change again and hey presto the car is just like it should have been but better, smooth and silky gear changes from hot and cold. So a lesson learnt after losing out on the cost of 7L of this oil. It’s a shame really as it gets good reviews but that must be for the Fords and other brands which they actually do have proper approval for. The original ZF oil is not recommended for any other gearbox apart from this so it must be different stuff, well it was thicker and also different colour to say the least. So in a nutshell, if you have an Audi go for original Audi or ZF oil. Don’t waste your time on this stuff it will cost more in the long run!
