I actually prefer the gel version of thickener the most. It starts working instantly whether the liquid is cold or room temperature. However, I get it in bulk and it's a pain for when we are traveling. I use these packets for traveling and emergency backups by putting a few in the glove box. My son needs thickened liquids. For room temperature this is supposed to work instantly, and cold you wait 5 minutes. I usually have to wait a minute or two even for room temperature. But I love the individual measured packets. If you need on a normal basis, getting in bulk whether powder or gel is the best bet price wise though. For longer trips I have gotten the larger of powder, but that one I found was a different brand that I had to wait whether the liquid was room temperature or cold. This one seems to kick on faster for room temperature.

We like the sticks for on the go and in case we forget to bring the tub somewhere. My son needs his liquids thickened so we keep these in both cars, in the diaper bag, etc so we know we at least always have some on us. We also send these with him to feeding therapy. They are more expensive than if you just got the tub but we only use them as needed/in cases we forget the tub. They are easy to rip open. We use a milk frother to stir it to make it easier to use and dissolve.

It’s a great product. My issue was with the delivery not with the person selling the product.

I bought this as an on-the-go thickener for my elderly mother. One packet is simply too much for small/medium size drinks offered in most restaurants. That is, unless you need to thicken drinks to pudding consistency. I've found that using less than half of a packet works for Mom's needs. It has no taste and no odor, so the drink itself is not affected, so no worries there. I do like the portability of the single serve packets, but beware, one packet is too much.
