Great Product, Good Price, Great Seller.
I ordered this item as I wanted to temper chocolate amongst other things, it the best buy and item I could have chosen. It works perfectly for all types of cooking where you need to measure the temperature of your food, from meat, poultry to baking applications, its al all rounder! I admit I was a little concerned as it was such a good price, that it would actually work, work well, be easy to use and read accurate temperature. It does all this and does it well. As I continue to add to my baking collection, I will be sure to visit this seller again, as not only was the product very good, the seller personally contacted me to make sure I was happy with my product and offer any help in the future if I may require it A+++++ Customer service!

Good product at a good price
Simply to use at a competitive price. Can be a bit slow in responding to measuring temperature, but would still recommend. Bought using amazon prime so price of product is better than those which include delivery fee.

Amdai Basics Digital LCD Food Thermometer Cooking Probe
I have been experimenting with making pea fritters, to be cooked from frozen. These were for friends and neighbours, so it seemed important to me to make sure they were cooked properly to avoid food poisoning. The thermometer did the job perfectly: easy to handle, easy to probe the fritters; it responded quickly to show the internal temperature of the fritters as they fried. It comes in an easy-to-open storage tube, which keeps the thermometer clean and protected from kitchen=drawer wear and tear.I think this is a great piece of kitchen equipment.

Tiny LCD display, easily obscured by steam. Unsafe if using for recording temp of 'boiling' preserves.
The probe on this gadget is six inches long. The casing is only three inches, and the digital display panel is tiny - it's under an inch long, and less than a quarter of an inch wide. You have to have the eyes of a hawk to see what the digital readout is.It's positively dangerous to use this gadget to record the temperature of a pan of boiling confectionery, jam or marmalade due to the likelihood of boiling splashes, and even if you chance it with lower temperature items, any steam further obscures the readout.Having said all that, this digital display food thermometer has been a useful piece of kit over the last three years since I bought mine.It reacts quickly to temperature changes and appears to be accurate, but I've had to downgrade its star rating to merely 'okay' because it's not capable of being used safely for many of the functions it ought to be capable of, plus the pathetically tiny display panel. It's fine for use in tempering chocolate, and good enough as a temperature probe for 'safe' ranges in hot or cold food.I've just dug this out of a drawer where it's been lurking unused for months so I can get on with chocolate 'goodies' for Easter, and it's still working well.If you're looking for an inexpensive product suitable for taking the temperature of confectionery or preserves during boiling, please be aware of the risk.If you're looking for a good, clear readout display then this probably won't be good enough for you.

Simple but effective
This thermometer is simple and easy to use. Insert the probe into the object or liquid you want to measure and turn it on, when the temperature stops going up or down, you have your answer. If you have an awkward viewing angle, you can press the 'hold' button to save the current temperature until you've had a chance to write it down. The thermometer is easy to clean and comes in a rigid and resilient storage/travel tube.Very effective for such a cheap product!

Inadequate performance
I bought this thermometer as a sugar thermometer - it was small, digital and had the required temperature range. In practice it is not usable for the job I needed it for. It takes ages to reach the temperature reading and then does not give a stable result. Consequently you cannot depend upon the results you achieve with this product. I realise it was inexpensive and so I have to believe that I got what I paid for! I shall now look for a better product and accept the price it will cost.

I do need one of these from time to time and it is a disappointment to have to replace it after barely any use
Bought this in May and now find it is faulty. I didn't use it for some months and when I needed it yesterday the display kept disappearing. I know the sellers contacted me shortly after purchase to check it was ok but at that time I'd only used it a couple of times and it seemed ok. I can no longer return it or contact seller direct which is a shame. I do need one of these from time to time and it is a disappointment to have to replace it after barely any use.
