An excellent quality bench drill vice. Worth paying the extra for.
I'm very pleased with this bench drill vice. It is considerably more expensive than the majority, but in my opinion worth the extra. It's a real, chunk of well cast iron (Photo). It is very well built. There is zero slack in the mechanism. You can alter the tightness of the mechanism by tightening/loosening the 2 screws underneath. I have it weighing in at 3.3kg. More than Faithfull says, I'm not sure if they changed the design or whether the weight was just incorrect, but either way, the heavier the better as far as I'm concerned. The securing rails have their centres at 110mm. Which, in my experience, should fit the majority of pillar drills. The mechanism works by having the main screw disappear into the handle as you unscrew it. I really like this as it means the distance of the handle never changes. It holds rock solid when tightened by hand. There is a hole in the handle for the provision of a tightening bar, but I've had no call to use it yet. The jaw design is extremely well designed. It has a centre horizontal and three vertical cut outs for holding round bar. It also has an incredibly useful notch cut out on the top of both Jaws. This is so useful for holding items flat and level. Many vices will have the cut out on one side only. This makes it very difficult to level the piece for drilling. Having it on both Jaws means you just lie the piece flat, and then tighten it up. Its one of the reasons I chose this vice, and it works brilliantly. One thing I've noticed. It says the Jaws working width is 70mm? As you can see from the photo, they will happily open to accommodate a work piece up to 83mm. A real bonus. Overall, I'm more than happy to give this bench vice 5 stars. Yes it is more expensive than most, but it's extremely well built, has really useful usable features, and should last for many many years. I hope you found this review helpful.

Works...
Not the ultimate in finesse and I still prefer to use the Nippy vice but when things are a bit big then this one comes into play. It is solid and hold very still when mounted to the table properly. Stays pretty true even after some pretty tight squeeze ups so not disappointed for the money

Good value sturdy machine vice
A good vice, but was dissapointed that "V" slots were only on one of the vices jaws

Strong, quality drill press vice
I bought this hoping that it would be good quality, and I wasn’t disappointed. It’s strong and heavy. It’s nicely constructed and well machined on all the parts that matter. I like that it has an oiling point on the lead screw. I did take it apart and give it a good clean and lube before using it. There were no burrs or sharp edges anywhere, which is unusual and most welcome. I think it’s definitely worth spending a bit extra on this one over the really cheap ones. I’m glad I did.

Good quality solid vice
From a drill vice you need several attributes. Solid, heavy weight, good grip, slots for holding round stock, recessed jaws, (lips on top), for holding flat bar to stop it slipping when drilling, a good sized handle with good gripping quality, slots to fasten to drill bench, and probably a few more I can't bring to mind right now. This vice has them all. If you want a vice that does the job well this is for you. If you want a cheap vice buy one, then throw it away and get this one instead. There are more expensive ones that don't have all the qualities listed here. Buy this vice and you won't be disappointed. I've been using vices professionally for forty years, I know what I am talking about. I've retired and wanted one for home, this will last me out and probably the next generation too. Used the vice several times now and delighted with it. Look at others then buy this one!

Good vice
Really surprisingly good vice, I have a few different makes and sizes and this one is the most solid and accurate, if you look at the way it is made the two halves of the casting are machined together too form a track and this means there is no unwanted play in the mechanism, very good design well made, I recommend anyone to buy this and don’t go cheaper it’s worth the small amount extra, it just works

Robust little gripper
Held were others failed and usually broke, cracked or slipped.Happy i found a product that suited holding numerous shaped objects even though rubber jaw covers were sometimes needed for extra grip.Overall a good little vice.

solid little vise
bought to replace lightweight, cheap and not very useful silverline vise. massive difference in weight and build quality for £15 extra. not sure how "precision" it is, but all major surfaces seem to be generally flat and square. milled grips in top of jaws nice touch. only small gripe is that handle doesn't offer as much leverage as a standard lever would. works great with drill press as easy to clamp down and doesn't move around. great purchase

I had to replace my Record press vice through frustration as the jaw skews upwards when some items are place high up in the jaw. This is due to a very sloppy and non-adjustable sliding jaw. No such problem with this well machined vice. The base holes also are well thought out and again superior to the Record one. - Smooth but tight action. (Great) - Well thought out base holes. (Good balance on the press table). Love it. A keeper. I'm impressed. Sydney NSW Australia.
