Pour a small glass of wine straight from the bottle, drink it then pour another through the wine aerator, totally different, unfortunately it encourages you to drink more wine, brilliant. A great product, well done.

After using the Magic Decanter on several bottles of cheap red wine with good results, I wanted an empirical test to "prove" that the effect was not all in my mind (famously the case in blind wine tastings when even the finest wines, shorn of label and bottle often fall dramatically in tasters' evaluations). So out of my sight a friend poured three glasses from the same bottle (a cheap Carlo Rossi red): one straight from the bottle, one decanted before pouring into the glass, and one poured through the Magic Decanter. I make no claim to a nose or palate more sensitive than any other; however, from the bouquet alone it was clear which glass was straight from the bottle (a very harsh edge). The remaining two were close in nose. But on tasting, there was one clear winner. Which was it? By some margin, the wine poured through the Magic Decanter was the winner. It didn't turn Carlo Rossi into great wine by any stretch of the imagination. But it did turn a wine that, to me, was almost undrinkable, into a an inoffensive tipple. On a practical level, as others have noted, wine does run out of the air-holes, and it can get a bit messy until you are used to using it. One for the kitchen rather than the dining table. Overall, if you drink a fair bit of cheap wine in your kitchen (and who doesn't?), definitely worth the investment. It also came in a a sturdy and attractive box as picture on the product page, making it suitable for a gift also.

Only for wine lovers

Having been teetotal for 62 years out of my 64y existence, I know ZERO about red wine. I now drink a small glass of this stuff in order to maintain heart health, this is not something I ever imagined doing. However, I did find that all red wine regardless of its cost, was much like sucking on a used tea bag. Terrible, nasty, crimson coloured, mouth wash. Then I received this "thingy" as a present. I duly poured the remains of my existing bottle of red through this "thingy" and I was amused by the glugging noise it made. Its now called "THE GLUGGER". Did it make a difference - YEP. I had no idea that red wine was meant to - breath - for some time before consuming. I had been teetotal and therefore ignorant of such things. This makes red wine taste rather nice (I suspect I will never fall in love with it) but what an improvement in flavour. Berries and fruits dance across my tongue in a moment of jovial tartness before heading off to be translated into myocardial assistance. I almost look forward to drinking red wine - and if you think your bottle of juice is rather lacking - then buy this glugger and discover how the wine should taste. Its a keeper :-)

I bought this wine aerator for my husbands birthday,was looking at a more expensive version which has been out of stock and then in again at a rather inflated 'new' price. This product did have good reveiws but as there was quite a price difference between the two I was a little worried about the quality. No need this product is fantastic, it is very well made and is strangely very tactile, good quality plastic and rubber, the noise of the wine going through the aerator is fun it really makes a good noise and improves the taste of the wine most importantly. It arrived in good time and in a very nice quality box with a velvet pouch to keep it in when not using. A very good buy indeed!

This is a wonderful little wine drinkers tool. Such a fun little object and definitely makes our wine taste cleaner and smoother.

Solves the problem of decanting wine as you pour it instead of getting the wine out early. Saves having to wait to develop the wine. It does need a bit of a technique to pour at the right speed without spilling, but once mastered, it's great. And it's fun developing the skill! It also has a strainer which comes into its own if the cork has crumbled. For cleaning, after use, I immediately put it in an old 1-litre plastic water bottle (with the top cut off) filled with water and washing up liquid. Leave it to soak overnight, rinse and it's ready for use again. A pipe cleaner would help to clean the small air holes, but so far haven’t needed to do that. Soaking has been sufficient. The first device came (from a different Amazon supplier) with a broken strainer. This was a chance to test the Amazon returns policy. Having requested refund from Amazon, all I had to do was pop round to the local convenience store, literally 50 yards around the corner from my London hotel. Then show them the Amazon bar code on my phone and that was it! I had visions of trekking to a Post Office and queuing to sort out postage. Not needed. Well done Amazon. Absolutely no paperwork. Replacement arrived the next day with Prime!

L'ho acquistato per curiosità e sinceramente ero piuttosto scettico sulla sua reale utilità. Devo dire che su vini importanti che richiedono un'ottima ossigenazione prima del consumo per esprimere al meglio tutte le loro note (come ad esempio l'amarone, il barolo, lo schioppetino, ecc...), la differenza è tangibile. Attenzione ad una cosa: non pensate di versarlo dalla bottiglia direttamente nel bicchiere usando l'aeratore e bere immediatamente. Il suo scopo è quello di accelerare il processo di decantazione, ma ovviamente non fa miracoli. Ho aperto un amarone e versato metà bottiglia direttamente in un decanter, mentre l'altra metà in un altro decanter attraverso l'aeratore. Morale della favola? il vino nel primo decanter era mediamente ossigenato, mentre queello nel secondo decanter (pre-areato) era ricchissimo di bollicine d'aria. Dopo 10-15 minuti il primo decanter era ancora poco bevibile, mentre il secondo era perfetto. Il primo decanter ha dovuto decantare (scusate il gioco di parole) ulteriori 20 minuti per ottenere lo stesso risultato. Direi che il suo lavoro l'aeratore lo fa alla grande e, cosa molto utile, ha anche un micro retino che filtra eventuali fondacci. Il materiale è il vetro e ha un design davvero molto piacevole, valorizzato anche dalla sua base e dalla custodia. Non è un accessorio fondamentale, ma da quando ce l'ho lo utilizzo per tutti i rossi con ottimi risultati. La pulizia è semplicissima: basta far correre acqua al suo interno ed in un attimo è pulito e pronto al prossimo utilizzo.

Il prodotto arriva in una confezione ottima anche per un regalo di Natale( dato il periodo), nella confezione è presente il decanter e sotto è presente il sostegno e il filtro da posizionare in cima al decanter!! Invitados, una mesa elegante, buen menú, vinos de calidad y a temperatura, Argh!, olvidamos abrir las botellas 20 minutos antes, no problem, con este aireador "sobre la marcha" cuestión resuelta. El "dispositivo" denota calidad, tiene una base de apoyo para evitar manchar o que ruede y se caiga, además lleva un filtro escamoteable para evitar que caigan posos en la copa, y para finalizar una elegante funda, bien acabado y estuchado, oye, un elemento útil y elegante todo por un precio muy razonable, que además constituye un buen regalo.
