Pro's: Hourglass arrived well packaged; an important feature for glass. Accuracy is very good, running at 30 minutes, 14 seconds -- Close enough for my purposes. It's attractive and well made. Glass does not appear to be fragile, with the thinnest spots being on the flat ends. It's quite stable on both ends and has scooted across my desk rather than tipped when gently bumped. You can stop the timer by placing it on its side. It will rock, but not roll around and doesn't need to be chocked. Sand appears to be fairly consistent in size and low in moisture content. Very little residue remains in the upper chamber when the sand runs out. The price is excellent at $9.99 with prime shipping. Uses: Whatever you desire of course. I use mine in the office for two different purposes. It's terrific for reminding me to stop and stretch every half hour or so when focused on computer work yet it doesn't break my concentration with an audible alarm. I try to conclude most office meetings within 30 minutes or so. Many people ask about the hourglass then tend to self-regulate as the sand flows. This provides a gentle way to bring meetings to a close, especially for people with disabilities or those who illustrate with stories. Some people will flip the hourglass themselves as a meeting begins which helps us both to be more respectful of each other's time. I plan to order more to help me keep track of the passing of time as I focus on home projects. Cons: None really. The attached tag was crunched and folded making it less suitable for gift giving. But at this price I'm not really concerned.

I spend a lot of time at home sitting at the computer working and thought this would be a useful item to place on my desk next to me to remind me to take a short break every hour. I selected this one because the price was right and it looked like it would do the trick. The hourglass came well packed. Sitting on my desk it is surprisingly elegant. The first time I turned it over I timed it and it ran out at exactly 59:55 an amazing five seconds shy of an hour. I don't know if they're all this accurate, but I consider that to be outstanding for a sand timer. About the only complaint I have is the brown sand is not as easy to see as some other colors might be, but I was pretty sure that would be the case when I ordered it anyway, so I'm not knocking any stars off because of that, besides, over the long haul a warm earth tone (and this is a pleasant shade of brown) is going to be more easy to live with than some of the bright colors I've seen used in some of these hourglasses. If you're looking for a one hour sand timer it would be difficult to improve on this one, unless you need a cage around it for protection.

Love the simplicity in design and the contrast of black sand against my white decor. I leave the "productivity/inspired" tag on it because it's exactly what I use it for and it looks decorative! I was comparing this to other hourglasses of the same price range and I went with this one because of it's wider profile, offering sturdy, wide base---no accidental falls as of yet! I know it's made of glass, but I didn't want to have to treat it so delicately. It was packaged very well and they offer free replacements if the item arrives damaged. In terms of functionality, it works as I hoped it would. I use it in place of a "pomodoro timer" when I'm trying to focus. I like that my train of thought isn't disrupted by a piercing alarm when the time runs out. Rather, I have a tangible object to look at when I need to see how much time is left and I can keep going for a little while longer if I'm in the middle of a good work flow. It also prevents me from reaching for my phone and getting distracted by it. I would definitely recommend this brand and will keep this item in mind when I want to add more decorative and functional pieces to my home.

This hourglass is perfect. I have personally always admired them, but have had trouble finding actual HOUR glasses. This one, however, lives up to its name. As it came from China, it did take a month to arrive, but it was well worth the wait in both price and appearance. The glass is smoothly blown, and the cocoa sand has a rich, almost light purple color to it. I was concerned about the size at first, as it is listed at 5/6 inches. But as you'll see in the pictures, it's a hefty, petite size. I pictured it with my coffee mug to give you an idea of its dimensions. Certainly a good gift, or in my case, a calming addition to my work desk. I highly recommend this for anyone who would appreciate time in its most basic and simple, yet elegant form.

Very good timer overall.... but... My timer is about 25 minutes. Which is still fine for my purposes, I'm using it for pomodoro and 25 minutes is actually the traditional pomodoro duration. One other imperfection, a tiny bit of sand clings to the glass as the timer runs out. It actually makes some cool looking patterns and knocking the glass will cause it all to fall down and finish draining in seconds. But it doesn't look perfectly clean to have some sand stuck up on the edges of the glass. Easy to knock off, but the sand won't all drain entirely by itself. I got the white sand version and it looks very classy, the sand has a slight sparkle to it. I have noticed some extremely tiny black flecks in the white, but they are hardly visible and don't bother me. The glass is clear and sturdy, but it can get fingerprints on it from repeated use. I plan to build myself a wood frame for it, so I can keep the glass perfectly clean.

Aesthetic hourglass. Nice size, beautiful shape and sand color. It runs smoothly for 60 minutos with +- 2 minutes which is pretty good. I totally recommend this product. Just be careful. It’s fragile. If it falls on itself it shatters. I wanted to buy another one but there no longer available. I hope they have it again.

The "inspired" tag is a little tacky, so I threw it out. But the hourglass is nice. And it kept to 60min with +/- 5min. Really like it
