Great quality and functional kettle
The best kettle! Looks so sleek. Very simple to use and you can adjust the temperature. Isn’t too loud when heating either. Great to use for making tea or coffee and pours nicely and gives lots of control. Pretty easy to clean as well. Overall really love this kettle and highly recommend it!

5 Stars with a couple shortcomings.
Heats quickly. Temperature dial counts up to set temperature. Easy to control pour. Remembers last temperature set. All of this makes for a very nice electric kettle and the reason I purchased it. However a couple of things makes this not an ideal kettle for me. The first is that the timer only counts up and cannot be used unless the water is heated first. Not a major issue, but it would have been nice if the timer was more flexible. The other issue that the lid is constructed in such a way that it traps moisture and when you remove it, the water drips onto whatever is underneath. Therefore, I would keep the kiddies away from it until the water cools. While, I still prefer the design of my stove top kettle, I think the OXO is a great solution for those of us (cough-cough) who have tendency to boil-dry a non-electric kettle. Update: April, 2024. I've noticed for a couple of months that the kettle has stopped brewing to 212 Fahrenheit and is stopping at 210. I've descaled it several times thinking the probe might be getting calcified, but nothing has worked.

A great kettle - better than the Bonavita
I bought this to replace a Bonavita 1L Digital Variable Temperature Gooseneck Electric Kettle which had its handle break off after 7 years of dutiful service. It was a pretty good kettle, but they've literally made no changes to its design or feature set since its introduction. This review is going to be a comparison review to that kettle, as the OXO Kettle fixes almost every single complaint I had about the Bonavita and introduces only very minor complaints - if you're cross-shopping these kettles, just buy this one. Pros: * Heats up much much faster than the Bonavita - the OXO is 1500W to the Bonavita's 1000W, and it's less shy about getting to temperature faster (for light roast coffee, getting it to 205-208F would take forever as it started conservatively cycling on and off around 190F). * Pours about 50% faster than the Bonavita at full tilt (and about twice as fast as the Fellow Stagg). This is a huge plus if you're using it for tea, instant coffee, or noodles. It still pours just as slowly as the others when you want it to. * It beeps when it reaches set temperature, and you don't need to press a second button to automatically hold temp for 30 minutes. Ties: * Both hold the same amount of water and take up the same amount of counter space (pretty minimal footprint). * Both let you set to any temperature in 1F increments. Cons: * The dial is not as quick to cycle through wide temperature changes (e.g., going from light roast coffee at 205-208F down to green tea at 175F is a quick set of 3-4 button clicks on the Bonavita but a lot of dial turning with the OXO). * You have to hit the on button twice to start to heat up. If you hit the on button and step away, it will just turn itself off. This con could be a safety benefit if you have kids or pets that get up on the countertop.

The best kettle I have owned
This kettle is great. It pours fast enough to use for tea and it gives plenty of control for a pour over. The handle is at a good angle, it has a silicone cove that does not get hot and gives really good grip in your hand. The lid also has a silicone handle so you can remove it when the kettle is hot with no issues. The base is super easy to use. You can set the temp you want and press a button to start it, not complicated at all and it stays hot for 30min if you do not cancel it. If I am being really picky I wish it had a separate physical on off button. like one that clicks or slides into either an off or on position, just for my own piece of mind. I am happy with my choice, it works great.

Perfect for me
I was looking for a gooseneck kettle that was simple to use, had a temperature display, automatically kept the water hot (for 30 minutes), was fast, poured well, had a comfortable handle, had a built-in timer, had a decently long cord with the ability to stow away the excess cord, would automatically shut off if it was too low on water, and no internal plastic. This kettle checked ALL the boxes. You press the button once to turn it on, adjust the temperature, if necessary (I rarely do), and press the button again to start heating the water. It beeps when it gets there (but not loud enough for me to hear). Possible negatives (but not for me): Changing the temperature often (It will go as low as 104 F.) 1500 watts, makes it very fast, but could be a problem for some About 1 liter capacity, you might want more Can't disable the beep (but I can't hear it anyway) I use the kettle almost exclusively for pour-over coffee, and I occasionally change the temperature a little. If I want a cup of tea, I just use whatever temperature it's set to. (I'm not a tea connoisseur.) If I were flipping back and forth from perhaps 170 to 205, adjusting the kettle with its rotary dial would be cumbersome, so if that describes you, I'd suggest looking for a different one.

Brown Residue Around Temperature Sensor and Temperature Dial Could Have Been Better
I had to return this pot. I've had a few other products from Oxo in the past and have always been happy with them. This was other than the case with this gooseneck kettle. I noticed that after several days of use, some some residue or stain started forming around the perimeter of the temperature sensor. I tried to clean it with some baking soda but the stain remained. Water boils fast. It's pumping out 1500 Watts after all. The thing is there is a multifunction dial that leaves something to be desired. You turn it to adjust the desired temperature. Push to start. It starts boiling. Change your mind? Push again to stop. Once water reaches the desired setpoint, you push again to turn off keep-warm mode that runs for the next 30 minutes. Sounds easy and good so far, right. Well, if you want to jump from 212 F to 155 F, because you boiled water an hour or two ago and want to just warm it up, you have to spend time turn the dial. It lacks a coarse adjustment if you turn the dial fast and finer adjustments if you turn the dial slowly. Pour control is much better than several other pots I've tried. The pot is made with stainless and looks good. The handle is insulated rubber, feels solid in your hands, and protects you from the heat. The same goes for the rubber knob for the lid. If you can get past the knob for the temperature adjustment that could be better and the residue around the temperature sensor, then this pot is a good buy.

The best electric kettle i've used
I use an electric kettle a lot, I make coffee or tea all day long at home. In the past decade i've owned quite a few of them, and i've never found one i'm truly happy with as they seem either aimed at coffee drinkers or tea drinkers. For years, pour over coffee enthusiasts were stuck with slower heating and pouring kettles like the fellow, while tea enthusiasts were using more convenient faster heating kettles that didn't have as fine temp control or a gooseneck spout. This is really the best of both worlds, and I've not seen another like it in my research. I'm very happy with it so far. It's the fastest heating kettle i've used, I would say 20 or 30% faster than the bonavita or the fellow stagg EKG, and as fast or faster than other 1500w kettles like the Cuisinart or the Zwilling. Unlike those two, and most other tea focused kettles, this one will let you change the temp by as little as 1 degree. This kettle allows you to pour water both slowly and accurately when you are making a pour over. However, if you want to make a large pot of tea, and you just want to dump the hot water in quickly, you can tilt this kettle forward further, and it pours relatively quickly. A "Standard" kettle with a spout on the top is still faster, but this isn't painfully slow like the fellow or bonavita. There are a few reviews talking about some build and reliability issues, ive not owned it very long so I cant speak to those. I'm eager to see how it holds up.

Worked Great for 13 Months and then Quit Working - and I was Careful!
I could tell that this kettle had the potential for crapping out because the dial was below where the water was. That meant, if OXO didn't have good enough gaskets around the dial, water could leak in to the electronics and damage the circuits. And with a kettle, you're dealing with water, so eventually things get wet. Nevertheless, I was very, very careful, keeping the base of the kettle dry at all times, cleaning up the tiniest drop. Once, water clearly got inside, and the display went nuts. I literally put the base in a bag of rice. DON'T DO THAT!!! It did work, but took me a few days to shake all the rice out of the interior nooks and crannies! Anyhoo, the kettle worked for another 6 months no problem, and then more water seemed to get in around the control knob. Again, this should be part of the design. But ever since then, I've only been able to get the kettle to work twice. Once was after unplugging and replugging it 7 or 8 times and pressing the control button who-knows-how-many-times. I originally paid around $80 for the kettle. Now it's more. I bought OXO because I don't need anything super fancy, just something functional, I liked their design, and I've always had great success with OXO. CLEARLY they cut corners on the quality. I'm a long-time kettle user. I know a good kettle when I use one. I've never had a kettle for so short a period of time. What a waste of money. This kettle is poor quality and seems like planned obsolescence.
