Sequel to WOLVERINE. Review: A must own - Logan is hands down the best comic book movie in existence. I never read “Old Man Logan” that it’s based on, so I don’t mean it’s the most accurate or true to the source material (though I believe it mostly is). What I mean is this movie wins across the board. The casting is great: obviously Jackman has made Wolverine his own, and it’s hard to see anyone else in that role. Patrick Stewart as Xavier is always good. But Dafne Keen as Laura absolutely kills it in this movie. In fact it’s absurd they didn’t immediately give her an X-23 spinoff movie after the success of this (one of the highest grossing R rated films of all time). She steals the show. The cinematography is great, in fact at some point they released a black and white cut because it looked so good. The VFX are as good as any X-men movie, and because of its grounded and gritty storytelling it’s not a mess of CGI. It almost feels like the Cohen Brothers made an X-men movie. This was one of the first 4k UHD movies I bought because it’s a must own. It looks and sounds fantastic. Review: Not Only One of the Best Super Hero Movies Ever Made, but Also One of the Best Movies of the Year - Movie Review (Non Spoiler) (9.5/10) Masterpiece Director and Writer: James Mangold Starring: Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Dafne Keene, Boyd Holbrook, Stephen Merchant Plot: It's 2029, and mutants no longer roam the Earth as most of them have been wiped from existence. Logan finds himself working as a limo driver to support his mutant friends - a dementia stricken Professor Xavier and Caliban. However, their lives are turned over when a mysterious little girl as well as the trouble that she brings enter into their lives... This is the "Dark Knight" dramatic entry of the X-Men universe and it's not only one of the best super hero movies of all time - "Logan" also happens to be one of the best movies of the year. Finally, Wolverine is given his dark, gritty no holds barred action movie with plenty of bloody violence and vulgar language that he deserves. However, the violence and strong language never feel forced, but serve the greater story and emotional drama of the characters and themes involved in this movie. This movie stands apart from other X-Men movies with Wolverine, because this Wolverine is such a defeated, downtrodden, down-on-his-luck underdog as he so desperately tries to make amends for his past sins and to help his last remaining closest friends as well as Laura aka X-23. Hugh Jackman delivers a powerful performance as he displays sadness for his friends, and incredible berserker rage for his enemies. His parental guidance and development of his relationship with Laura are also believable and the driving force of this movie. I have never seen Keene in another movie before but her performance as a badass child killer is a sight to behold as she dispatches her enemies with such ferocity as well as shows her vulnerability as a mutant child finding her place in this crazy world. Stewart also shows different shades as a sick Professor Xavier who is struggling to hold onto his sanity and delivers a poignant performance. I also found myself caring for Merchant's Caliban as he cares for Xavier and Logan and Merchant makes an obscure character into one the audience cares for. My only gripe with the movie is that they never really delve into the facts of how Xavier hurt his friends in the past before his mind fell apart, but this is a small gripe when considering the greater scope and drama of this film. You don't need to watch the other X-Men movies to enjoy this film, but if you do enter this movie after watching all the other movies that came before, the drama that unfolds for Logan and Xavier will leave you emotionally destroyed and caring for these characters. A tour de force and I also recommend watching this movie in IMAX if your local theatre offers it as the images are more striking and the sounds are more blood curdling.

Quite a Character
A bleak, violent, mature and very welcome film. Logan has been a central character in the X-Men franchise since its inception and it seems entirely proper to give him his own send-off. The film begins in 2029 and Logan, considerably aged, is making a living as a driver while living with a badly deteriorating Professor and Caliban, who is capable of tracking other mutants. It is an ability that is largely no longer needed - virtually all mutants have been "phased out", to put it mildly. Logan is persuaded, with his usual cooperativeness, to help a young mutant named Laura escape to "Eden", a location in North Dakota and near the Canadian border. But the biomedical firm who genetically engineered her wants her back and Logan becomes trapped in a gruesome struggle less for himself than for Laura. The writing is sound, grounded and quite lean. It paints a post-apocalyptic (for mutants, anyway) future but wisely backs away from making it wildly advanced technologically. (The film will probably age well.) As mentioned, there is a significant amount of violence but it makes complete sense: Logan is nothing if not a born soldier and this is a battle for survival. The acting completely nails it - no one comes off stale, least of all Hugh Jackman who really runs a gamut of emotions here. The direction is smart, mixing fast-paced action sequences with slower, more dramatic scenes seamlessly. And much of the photography - desert, Badlands - is both beautiful and haunting. Overall, when the pieces come together, the film is a tragedy with a thread of hope still there but the hero of so many movies no longer.

Spoiler-free review
Anyone who grew up watching the X-men movies, cartoons, and reading the comics must watch this movie. Is it perfect? No. But it is the perfect period on a sentence that is the character of Wolverine we all know and love. Every role is played perfectly and it gets me in the feels every time I watch it. The character of Laura is so perfectly portrayed and cast that I can't wait for her to be in future movies and I finally have hope for the continuation of this brand. As I said before, it's not perfect. There is far too much swearing, especially done by Charles Xavier, which really took me out of the movie at times. Logan swearing is fine, he always seemed to be holding back his vulgarity anyway and swears in previous titles, but I always saw Charles to be above that. You could explain it away by saying it's a way of showing his frustration about his current situation, but there are other, more creative, ways of getting that across. This isn't one for the kids, that's for sure, so don't let your Avengers-loving children watch this one. It's really meant for the people that grew up with the character and needed a more mature and even telling of a story now that we've outgrown the colorful costumes and crazy CG-infested bad guy battles. (Okay... fine, I'll never outgrow that stuff, but it was nice watching a film that complimented my childhood hero without the kid-gloves on.) All-in-all, if you are a fan of comics and a fan of Wolverine (and don't mind strong language and violence), just watch this movie. It's fantastic.

GOOD Movie!
I really liked this movie. It had lots of mutant action (of course), and still found room for (some) character development. It introduced quite a few "man-made" child mutants. Most of them you didn't see or learn that much about them. The BEST scene with the child mutants (POSSIBLE SPOILER!!!): when they all stood their ground TOGETHER and used all their powers on one of the "bad guys"! LOVED it!!! It introduced a new man-made Wolverine, made with Logan's DNA, so it even looked like Logan (just didn't look as OLD as Logan). I will be watching it AGAIN in the near future! It had some light comedy in it. Literally laughed out loud when Professor X stuck his tongue out to Logan (Wolverine) and said "AHHH!" when Logan said he wanted to see that he took his pills. There were some other light moments as well. One small part of the (near) ending I liked! Two parts of the (near) ending I HATED. I understood the REASONING, but I don't care, I STILL hated those 2 parts! Great acting by all. Good directing. Good Cinematography. Good Choreography (fight scenes, etc.). Good music. Good dialogue. Good plot/storyline. I could go on, but I'm sure you get the point. If it hadn't been for those 2 parts of the (near) ending, I WOULD have given it FIVE stars!

Loved the grit
Easy 5/5. There really isn't anything at all wrong with the movie unless you are too squeemish for a gritty/cathartic atmosphere. Acting, effects, story, etc are all great. I wasn't expecting much from the film to be honest, as I thought it may have been a different kind of X-Men flick, more of a dialogue/story emphasis, with an ailing Charles and dampened Logan. Might possibly being a film that's in the backburner of a long series that may be not given as much effort/resources to be great. Totally wrong, and I loved all of it. The level of adult, gritty, cathartic content in Logan is marvelous, and it touches on areas that aren't often in films, like how it sucks to have mental/physical issues which are both likely as everyone does this thing called getting old, and that's life. They're not something to stigmatize but rather accept as plain facts. A good deal of the superhero movies were partially or nearly completely spoiled for me by them clearly being geared towards feminine and/or young audiences. The only way this film disappointed me is films just like it probly wont be made as much as others or be as popular, therefor incentivized.

Memoirs of a Wolverine - the last chapter
Simply one of the best anti-hero, superhero, or even action movies ever. It's a movie maybe I relate to it more than others because of my age. It seems like just yesterday I was 20 years old and kicking arse. But even though in my mind I'm still that young man I can't control and do the things with my body as I use to just like Logan (Hugh Jackman) in this movie. My father-in-law who was close to me was exactly like Professor X (played by Patrick Stewart who brilliantly acted his part in this film) I watched him die in the hospital and be buried almost similarly, but not brutal as his death in the movie. This motion picture shows that changing of roles of a son and father when your father becomes too old to make rational decisions, but they are still smart as a whip and become like a child with teen like rebellion tendencies. Even have a brother like Caliban (Stephen Merchant) who has a internal personality, but obviously has deep care for Logan and his pain. The relationship between Logan and X-23 (Dafne Keen) also brings into this great film that responsibility of a father to shield and protect all the crazy and bad people and circumstances from harming your child. You couldn't ask for a better story, or action sequences, or feeling, or acting, or ending of an long era of Hugh Jackman's Wolverine. This movie is as perfect as you can get a Hollywood action movie. I think this is up there with 'The Dark Knight', 'The Matrix', 'The Terminator', etc. Highly recommend.

A visual and emotional powerhouse
The film looks absolutely stunning in 4K The gritty landscapes, detailed close-ups, and intense action sequences are razor-sharp with deep contrast and color. But beyond the technical brilliance, this is storytelling at its rawest. Hugh Jackman's performance as an aging Wolverine is unforgettable, layered, vulnerable, and deeply human. Patrick Stewart delivers a heartbreaking turn as Charles Xavier, showing a side of Professor X we’ve never seen before. This isn’t just a superhero movie; it’s a powerful, character-driven drama wrapped in a world of mutants. The 4K edition does the film justice, making it feel immersive and beautifully cinematic. Whether you're a longtime X-Men fan or just love a great film, Logan in 4K is absolutely worth watching.
