Really Fun and Not Just for Kids!
Drocon DC-65Drone- The drone itself is tiny! I’m used to flying a DJI Mavic Pro and this DC-65 is truly pocket size. It has a blue LED for the front indicator and two red LEDs for the rear indicator so you always know which direction the drone is heading. Although, it has a “headless” feature that you can enable at any point, making it even easier to fly.The propeller arms securely and solidly fold in and out for storing and flying. It stores in it’s own controller, which is a brilliant design. One thing I’d like to see is another storage compartment in the controller for the backup propeller(prop) set, the USB charging cable and the prop guards. So you don’t have to carry those items around separately. The drone has tiny flexible nubs for landing gear, which, seem to effectively mitigate the shock of landing on hard surfaces. It can take off and land automatically by pressing the “take off/landing” button on the controller and can hover in place. It has a “speed” button for three speeds, slow, intermediate, and fast. It will also do 360 flips by simply pressing the “stunt” button on the controller and telling it which direction you want it to flip. It even has a “one key return” which will make the drone come back to where it took off, really cool. This little drone can also take a beating! The first time I flew it was in the garage and it veered off into the wall and down through a rake and broom and it still came out unscathed. I didn’t have the prop guards on and I didn’t even need to replace the blades! Tough little thing.Prop Guards- The prop guards just pop onto and around the motors from under the motors. No need to remove the blades for installation.Controller- The controller is really light and is very smooth. It sometimes felt a little difficult to get a good grip. However, the overall ergonomics is well thought out and all the buttons were easy to reach and engage without straining. If they add a little knurlling or maybe some rubberized material on the palm grip area it might help.Flight- Flight time was about 7-8 minutes but I’m sure that depends on how you are flying the drone, fast and hard vs nice and easy. The slow speed is good for flying indoors and first getting used to the drone. The intermediate speed probably won’t get used much and the fast speed is great out doors. It’s not lightning fast but it is surprisingly zippy for it’s size. It’s also pretty quiet too.*The only issue I had out of the box was with the drone drifting off too much, it would not hover in place. After reading the manual again and looking at the troubleshooting page, I was able to easily correct the problem and now the drone hovers in place perfectly.Charger- It comes with a small USB charging cable but no actual charger. Which is fine, because it uses a regular USB charger from a phone or tablet, computer port, or I bet you could even use the USB port in your car if you have one. The manual states about 50 minutes to get a full charge.Manual- The manual is well written and to the point. It has 10 actual pages, all in English, with colored images. It also comes with a troubleshooting manual if you have any issues. Again, well written and 5 color pages.Extras- The DC-65 drone came with another set of props, a mini screw driver (for accessing the x2 AAA battery bay on the controller), a USB charging cord, a Thank You note (nice touch) and several reminders to activate the 12 month warranty. And it’s a good idea to do so (it’s really just inputting your email and order number) and afterwards they will offer you a gift just for doing that. And if that’s not all, as a pleasant surprise, one of the best things that came with this drone is a pamphlet offering “free spare accessories” after you register the product with them, amazing.Overall, for the price, this is an awesome little toy drone. I was locked in on the drone watching it do it’s flips and speeding around the house grinning the whole time. This thing is really cool and would be a great intro for anyone, not just kids, for getting into drones.

Lots of fun
I was able to snag this at a lightning deal for around $25 and at that price, this drone is an absolute steal. It was way smaller than I imagined it looking at the pictures. I was surprised to find that the drone comes folded inside the controller out of the box. Once you put the prop guards on, it won't fit inside the controller but that's a minor point. I recommend flying with the prop guards. It comes with 4 replacement props but better to fly with the guards on and prevent any breaks. This is the first drone I've flown and I think it's a great drone to start with to get into the hobby. The three speed modes definitely help. I usually fly on the slowest since it's nice and easy to control. At the 3rd (highest) speed mode, this thing is real fast and it's easy to slam into a wall if you're not careful. The altitude hold works ok. It'll usually hold within a couple feet altitude. I don't think there's a way to turn off the altitude hold and in any case, the throttle stick springs to the center, so you can't hold it at a certain throttle.I usually get around 5-7 minutes of flight time out of it before the controller starts beeping at my that the battery is low.I have four (minor) complaints.* The up and down movement is binary. It will either go up or down at full speed or not at all. It would be nice if I could change how fast the drone changes altitude based on how much I push the stick. In contrast, all the other axis movement speeds are dependent on how far I push the stick.* The controller beeping is very loud and annoying. It'll beep 4 times on startup: twice when the controller turns on and another two times once it connects to the drone. All the other beeps it makes when you push buttons are equally loud and annoying.* There is no way to kill the power immediately. The drone is able to detect when it lands on a surface and stops the propellers. But in situations in which the drone gets stuck somewhere where it's not on a stable surface but I still want to stop the props, the only way is to hold the throttle until it detects that it has stopped moving or power off the controller, which takes a few seconds before the drone realizes.* The headless mode is not reliable. It's supposed to adjust the controls so that the direction the drone moves is dependent on the direction the controller is facing. For example, if the drone is facing you, headless mode is on, and you push the stick forward, the drone will fly forward based on the controller's orientation, which is away from you. If headless mode is off, the drone will fly forward based on its orientation, which is toward you. It takes some time before the drone and the controller "sync up" and figure out each other's orientation and once it figures it out, the controls change. When it works, it works really well.Overall I think these complaints are pretty minor and this is a great drone even at its normal price.
