Cheap replacement for my 3s/brushed vehicles which had a bunch of Spektrum servos that were basically garbage. Do need to switch to a 25t horn so may need a different adapter for those vehicles -- but the servo itself is standard 25t. Works good, no issues so far.

They're strong and do the job but on a 1500mh lion they are super slow, even for a crawler.

I've been in the radio control hobby since...ohh...the 1980's. In all that time, I've seen a lot of servos come and go, from this manufacturer and that. The one thing I've come to appreciate in servos is metal. If you've ever stripped the teeth on one of the gears in your steering servo smacking an obstacle (despite having a "servo saver"), you know where I'm coming from. The more metal there is, the stronger, more rigid, and more durable the part will be. I don't think I'll ever forget the first time I upgraded one of my "radio-included" servos to an expensive, fast, metal gear servo. How fast the steering now was, how much more precise. Any of you that started out on the lower end of the hobby and worked their way up knows this feeling. So when I get a chance to take a look at a servo with "full metal gear" and "metal case", I'm all about that. Unfortunately, when I got this, I saw that the "metal case" was only 1/3 metal, the top cap and bottom cap both being what appears to be a glass-reinforced nylon. Where it's not that big of a deal on the bottom, because nothing really happens down there...the top cap is where the reduction gear set is, and plastic here can cause deflection (especially in high torque servos, but also in the case of accidents). So, seeing a 1/3 metal case servo being listed as a "full metal gear", I had to open it up and take a look, just to make sure "full metal gear" really WAS "full metal gear". Much to my delight, it was indeed a full metal gear, with a decent-size ball bearing on the output shaft. This is nice, as I've seen "full metal gear" servos put a bushing here instead of a bearing. I have included a picture of the disassembled top and bottom parts of the servo, showing the metal gearset and ball bearing, as well as a comparative photo of the BETU DSC45MG HV, which is an ACTUAL metal case servo. It should also be noted that the BETU is about 2x the cost of the Hiwonder. Now, I'm not saying this is a bad servo. This is actually a really decent servo, and it would find a WONDERFUL home in any 1/10 RC. The price is right, as well, at just under $25, it'll clobber any Futaba servos in this price range. Please note that this servo runs on 6-7.4 volts, if you run a BEC you may want to make sure it puts out enough voltage. This is a really solid servo for the price range, and wouldn't hesitate to buy it. My only exception is calling it a "metal case" servo. Yeah, 1/3 of it is metal, and that's more than some. But the top is literally the most important part to be metal, seeing as that is where the gears mount and with the torque multiplication that is where the deflection can occur resulting in strippage. But for a "partially metal case" servo, this is a really solidly built servo. The build quality was excellent (even on the circuit board) and I'd get it again.
