Fix It! Grammar: Level 1 Nose Tree [Teacher/Student Combo]

Using this alongside IEW writing program for grade school and it is working wonders. It teaches grammar little by little through a brief instructional page and then sentences which must be edited and marked by the student. There's a list of items to be corrected or grammatical elements to be marked at the top of each page. It also encourages vocabulary growth through daily words selected from the sentence which the student must look up and write a definition for on the page. My student takes this out daily of her own volition and seems to enjoy the exercises which she can work mostly independently. As the grammatical skills increase in complexity, a parent or teacher should help the student with the teaching page and guide them through sentences until they are confident in marking the new grammatical element. It's worked well for us!

Haven't used it yet, it is summer now. From looking it over it will be a good product for my students that are struggling with writing.

Cannot praise this curriculum enough. Fix it has been paramount to my child’s success in writing and learning the parts of speech. We switched from The Good and the Beautiful this year to using Fix It and IEW along with Hillrap for reading and comprehension. The growth has been amazing!

My hesitant learner never minds this book. She does well with the muscle memory and routine of the daily activity, building on one skill at a time. This is a great grammar addition if you’re needing something to check that box without it adding heaviness or a lot of time to your day.

We moved overseas for a few years and I needed something to keep my kids on level with grammar so they aren't behind when we move back to the states. I'm so glad I found these books! I have a 4th grader and a 6th grader who just finished level 1. They have a really solid grasp on the different parts of speech. I love it! They can easily identify adverbs, adjectives, prepositions, subject/verb pairs, adverb clauses, etc. etc. They seem to enjoy it too and never complain about doing their additional grammar lessons after school. (I actually wish I'd had this book when I was in school!)

My daughter can’t wait to get to this part of language. It has definitely improved her handwriting also.
