Mosaic Crochet: Modern Blankets in Love Overlay Mosaic

The patterns in this book are stunning! This was my 2nd crochet project and I was able to figure it out from the instructions. Each pattern has a visual pattern which I find much easier to use than written instructions. The border was a little confusing as you need to read both the pattern instructions and the general instructions. But overall the instructions are thorough. I did not use the yarn specified in the pattern, but I did use the same weight and the crochet size. I don't know if I did it tighter than is normal, but it took me almost double the stiches to match the 4" sq. reference in the book. I also altered the size of the blanket to make it larger than in the pattern. It took a very long time to make, but I couldn't be happier with it.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to crochet blankets. The designs are beautiful and the directions are detailed. I also would recommend following the author (Ana Morais) on socials. She has created some of my favorite designs and a lot of my favorite pins on Pinterest.

Each pattern in this book has a full photo of the finished product so you can really see how it will look. Most patterns have a cute eye/catching photo of the product draped over a chair or something and you have to try and imagine how each section or corner, etc. will be. This book was well thought out from a crochet-er’s perspective. I’ve never done overlay mosaic but I believe I can do this because of the well written instructions and photos. Update: I purchased this pattern book back in May. Now that I have the time to sit don’t and make one of the blankets in the book I am really disappointed. The book clearly states it has written patterns as well as charts to go along with each pattern. The written patterns leave out portions of the pattern that are on the charts. Like “FLO”(front loop only) or “BLO” (back loop only). I don’t use charts to crochet. I only read patterns. That’s why I was excited that the description said “written and charts”. I was just casually looking over a chart to a pattern and noticed the terms BLO and FLO on every other row. I looked at the written pattern and this is nowhere stated in the pattern. I am so bummed. I don’t want to be reading a line and have to flip back and forth between pages to read the chart AND the pattern. It would take forever to complete one of these blankets. I have ordered yarn for two different patterns that I wanted to start working on and now I feel like throwing the book in the trash as I’m sure I could not return it. I was so excited to make these patterns but now I’ll not be able to. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT.

The designer has done a fabulous job in explaining how to crochet mosaics. The pattern selection is beautiful.

I had never done overlay mosaic, but this book has great instructions, charts, and photos. I have made two blankets with it already. People are blown away with my final projects. I highly recommend the book!

Pictures are beautiful. Ideas look like they'll be so fun to make. Can hardly wait to try them. Definitely worth the price.

The book is okay, but I hoped to get a little more variety in the patterns.

Omgosh 😃 this book is amazing I'm new to mosiac crochet but this is so well written and easy to follow. Every pattern in the book is beautiful I want to do them all, I couldn't decide which one to do first 😂 so I had hubby pick 😍🤣 . Anyone who buy this book will be very pleased

This book gave me some interesting information about overlay mosaic crochet, haven't tried any of the patterns but it should help me with the pattern I have.

J’ai mis beaucoup de temps à l’avoir, mais ça valait le coup. Il y a de superbes modèles, très bien expliqués (en anglais, mais avec un traducteur, no problem) et les grilles sont déjà prêtes. Je RECOMMANDE !
