Update 6/2024: love this reel! Went fishing from the river bank and this thing casts a mile. Smooth as silk, not a tangle one. Used 12lb Rncl braided line and this thing just sails. I was using spinner bait and switched to a 4oz lure and it still sailed. Love, love, love this reel. Paired with the Kastling Spartacus II pole, excellent action and makes for a perfect pairing! Okie dokie, after unboxing I thought I was going to return it because the bail was really tight and sort of got stuck or wanted to hang. I decided to give it a go anyway and stuck it on a 6ft6in rod, loaded it with 10 lb braided line with about a 10ft flourocarbon leader, also 10lb, and this thing cast a mile. It is smooth, silent as can be, and the bail isn't that bad afterall. clicks over pretty easy once on the rod and all loaded. I took it kayak fishing and tried it with several different lures. Even a light weight rooster tail seemed to fly a mile- even in the wind. I ended up letting my kid fish with it most of the day and she didn't have any issues with it even though it was her first time kayak fishing. The kid loved the reel, loved casting with it, decided I no longer needed it or the rod, and has now adopted it and given it a name. Sorry KastKing, but the Spartacus II is now known as...the Green Goblin. UPDATE: I bought a second one of these, loaded it with 12lb RUNCL Merced braid and it still casts a mile. Super smooth and super quiet. I added this one to a KastKing Spartacus II Fishing Rod (super amazing rod- you can see my review on that one) and the combo just looks and performs fantastic. The kid saw the combo and decided to rename it to, " The Green Arrow".

This is a superior reel for a good price. $40-$70 is reasonable. If you abuse the reel it will put up with it but you may have to polish the guide. So don’t abuse your reel! Excellent progressive breaking - easy to fine tune for trout or if you want to play with bluegill or bass on the line. Smooth out feed for long casting. Handle is absorbent but dries quickly. I don’t understand this feature nor did I think I needed it. But I love it. And I wish my other reels had it. The grip is easy to grip, comfortable, and dries quickly when it gets wet. On top of it all, it’s reasonably light which means it will have a better range of rods it can combine with a wide range of rods without being a detriment to a well balanced rod. Because it unloads so smoothly, this reel will work with an ultralight but could mess with the balance so you’d have to practice casting with it. Anything medium light (spinning) and up will go great with this reel.

I’m a tournament angler and was needing a new spinning reel, took a chance on it. This reel preformed to expectation and will purchase more. Recommended
