That's a great question. Thanks for asking. Sorry if the answer is long but we take your security and privacy very seriously. Gryphon will still be a more secure WiFi router with free parental controls, content filtering, screen time management, network management, and more. It also has the following that makes Gryphon inherently more secure: 1) Automatic security patch updates. For example, we addressed KRACK with a software update. Most routers don’t get software updates because it’s too difficult or just not available. We at Gryphon make it a priority to keep the software updated to address any WiFi or other security issues. Done seamlessly. 2) Secure boot which does not allow the running of 3rd party software without the binary being certified 3) Gryphon does not use web browser for configuration. Web interface has been a favorite for hacking WiFi routers 4) No remote open ports for management, which makes it more secure and protects your privacy 5) The software is 3rd party tested for vulnerabilities What you won’t get after the first year if you decide to opt out of the service are: 1) Malware/ransomware filtering. The database is constantly updated with a daily feed from ESET 2) Intelligent Intrusion detection for protecting all the smart connected devices like webcams and thermostats 3) Network vulnerability scanning like scanning for vulnerable open ports or vulnerable devices 4) Homebound™ mobile device app for managing kids devices even when not on Gryphon network 5) Extended hardware warranty I hope that helps. Q: Does gryphon work with the duckduckgo search engine?

Hi there. Good question. When safe search is turned on for the user profile, duckduckgo is blocked and only Bing or Google is accessible with safe search forced on at the network level. We would love to work with duckduckgo to enable safe search for them as well in the future.

Q: How many devices can be hooked up to this unit?

Thanks for the question. Each Gryphon can support 3 wired LAN devices and over 250+ wireless devices. Each Gryphon has three separate radios, one for 2.4GHz, one for 5GHz, and a dedicated 5GHz backhaul for wireless mesh. Having separate radios helps with congestion by spreading the load. BTW, you can also prioritize a device on the network in case you want to stream Netflix and there are others on the network watching Youtube. :)

This device utilizes ESET's web filtration database. That is, according to Gryphon, the entire ESET filtration for URL's is stored locally on the Gryphon and updated regularly and your browsing data is NOT sent to Eset.
