Most likely. We had a lightning strike that took ours out and the same issue resulted: power to the unit, but it wouldn't register. I replaced the logic board and got several more years of use out of it. I would definitely go that route before replacing the whole unit.

Yes most likely it was hit by lightning or power surge you might even want to buy a surge protector for a garage door opener they plug into your outlet on the ceiling then the opener plugs into the surge protector

It may. I would check the adjustment of your tension springs first. If that isn't the problem, it's most likely the control board.

Q: How do you remove the cover on the opener to replace the board?

first remove housing,starting at bulb end remove bulb cover and screws at bulb end then fold housing away to access ct board,no need to remove unit from its mounting
