After looking at several different versions of this hand-held grater from several different vendors, I settled on this one to use in grating fresh parmesan. I've always in the past used the dry grated parmesan that comes in the bottle (such as Kraft parmesan) or the shredded stuff you find in the grocery cheese aisle but have always wanted to try fresh parmesan like you get at Olive Garden. I finally took the plunge and ordered this one - I liked the ease with which it could be disassembled and would work easily for left- or right-handed people (the crank handle is easily swapped). We've gone through a full block of fresh parmesan now with this grater and so far I've really enjoyed using it. The fresh parmesan just adds something special to any dish, taking it to the next level over the packaged stuff, especially when used to garnish plated food for serving. The grater is easy to use and, given how easy it is to take apart, is easy to clean as well. I haven't tried this yet for any other kinds of product (chocolate, other cheeses, etc.) so I haven't used the larger-sized grater drum, though I expect it to function well also. The included containers that you can attach and grate into are pretty small, to be honest, so I don't really envision myself using them at all. I suppose that you could use them if you wanted to take freshly grated parmesan to add to your lunch or something but they really are only good for about 1 person's worth of cheese. So, more gimmicky than anything IMHO but not a negative for the product, just something to keep in mind. Finally, I liked that this grater was sold by a smaller mom-and-pop vendor and I like supporting the little guy, as it were. I can, based on my experience, definitely recommend this grater.

This handy little grater is excellent. My family consumes a fair bit of grated Parmesan, and this makes it quick and easy (and safe!) to grate some freshly at any time. I've also used it successfully to grate softer cheeses, nuts, chocolate, and occasional other ingredients. Cleaning is easy, too. The grater is solid and strong, but light. We were very happy with this for two years... Then the hard plastic cracked! (Not to worry, this story ends well!) It hasn't quite broken, and is in fact still serviceable. But clearly the handle is about to break off from the hopper. I figured two years is less than I'd like, but maybe that's the best I should expect. It turns out: not at all. I wrote the vendor, and immediately got the best possible reply. They offered an immediate replacement (well, full refund for a replacement, because of international shipping considerations, but the end result is the same), and apologies for an apparently rare problem. Service was friendly, helpful, prompt, and well beyond what I had expected. I already thought the grater was a 5-star product. This level of service makes it an even surer buy.

It works quite well. I bought it to use primarily on Parmesan cheese and for that it works pretty well. The handle is a bit problematic. It is a cam lock style and it seems to fall off easily but this might be just learning curve as I have only used it a few times. The drums are sharp and it works quickly. The unit isn't big and if you have an 8 oz wedge of parmesan you will have to cut it down to fit it in. Cleanup is fast. The extra little bottles are a nice feature and handy if you have a little left over. Finally it really is a Grater, not a shredder. This is true of all of the items in this class. Admittedly its fine setting is quite fine but it isn't grated cheese. I am still working on figuring out the equivalents for recipes which specify amounts of grated cheese in cups but that will just take some time. Overall this is a good device and works well.

I have had this cheese grater for several years. It has worked flawlessly to grate Romano and Parmesan cheese. Recently the fine grater wheel broke on hard aged Parmesan. Since the grater has a lifetime warranty, I contacted NANCY by email and explained what happened. She responded quickly and replaced the broken piece. I received it several days earlier than estimated. They have fantastic customer service besides a great product!

This is the second time am buying this as a cheese grater. My older product was left for my in-laws, so I bought another. I usually keep it in the fridge ready to grate my cheese, washing it in-between blocks of cheese. The older one has lasted over a year with no issues, thus bought a second and hope it'll last as well. Keep it dry and clean.
