This looked a lot like the America's Test Kitchen top pick for meat pounders, but probably less expensive. It works, almost too well. One must have some restraint when flattening or the meat gets too thin. Seems very sturdy and heavy and the perfect diameter. If you have enormous hands, you might need a bigger pounder as the handle was perfect for me, a size medium in latex gloves.

Just give them a hard smash so they break open just a bit. Then the peel comes right off. It's made me start using real garlic in my cooking instead of jarred minced garlic! It's very heavy and I'm sure would be fantastic at pounding meat. The wide circle would make you able to pound more surface area with one pounce than the traditional "hammer" style tenderizer. However, I have always used the hammer style and I can say that my arm would tire out much more quickly using this new one. You're using completely different muscles and hand grips. So take that into consideration. I did have to remove a star because the listing states that this has a non-slip rubber handle, with is not true at all. It's hard plastic. Which makes it harder to grip and hold onto. I have very small hands that fit easily on the handle, but I think larger hands could have a harder time. But again, it's hard plastic. Since I'm only using for smashing garlic cloves, it's fine for me.

The design makes it easy to use, it’s heavy & doesn’t take long to pound out a chicken breast. Cleans up easily.

This meat pounder is the best I have used. The stamp handle design and the string weight of the metal do the job fast. The ergonomics seem better than the traditional hammer style. It takes no space to store. If you need to flatten any meat uniformly, this is the tool to have in your gadget drawer.
