Yes, this screws directly into a 1 1/2" pipe threading. It also comes with an adapter for a 2" pipe.

what is life span for mini vent

We just replaced two, both had replaced vents that were about 8 years old.

Are these suitable for exterior vent pipes?

My understanding is they are only for use inside. They eliminate the need to connect new fixtures to the main stack.
