Hi thanks for your question. It can be powered by an external DC5V adapter. It does not need to be powered by the Raspberry Pi's USB. It can be used as a display alone, so that it can't be touched, and the touch data can be transmitted simultaneously through the Raspberry Pi USB power supply. This will enable the touch function. Is the protective case assembled already?

No, you have to assemble it yourself. We ran into issues with the screen not being square on the PCB and so the front and screw holes on the protective case do not line up with the board. Since the screen is attached to the board with double-sided foam adhesive, I think we will be able to adjust it to fit, but I need an extra set of hands to do that.
