USB Type-C 256GB 400MB/s USB 3.1 Flash Drive (MUF-256DA/APC)

I purchased the Samsung USB Type-C Flash Drive specifically for storing dash cam footage in my car, and it has been an excellent choice. This flash drive's standout feature is its reliability under the continuous use demanded by dash cam recordings. The capacity is substantial, providing ample space for hours of high-definition video without the need for frequent transfers or deletions. This is particularly important for dash cam use, where you never want to miss recording crucial moments due to lack of storage. Its data transfer speeds are noteworthy. Very small size so easy to carry around or even leave plugged into the laptop permanently as additional storage for music/video etc. Been using it for while now and very pleased with reliability and speed. Nice colour too. Recommended

Please note, 256GB stick actually only has 238 of available storage - 18GB missing. Likewise on the 128GB sticks there is 9GB missing. ie 7% missing from each. Presumably it's the same for the 64GB. Screenshots attached show data info, and relevant page from Samsung's data sheet available online (see Point 5). 7% is quite a chunk. If it's for some kind of hidden system file just advertise them at the lower storage level - they're still worth it and much better than the others I've used. I've looked on Diskgenius and it shows 119.5GB storage but registers the full 128 but it can't be seen. If you're tech savvy maybe it makes sense and you can fix it. I'm not! Samsung will not help with this, they just give your money back. But all that aside, I will probably repurchase because other big brands I've tried have the same issue not only with usb sticks but also with memory cards. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I got a 128GB one and was so impressed I bought the 256 too. It works on any USBC device (not just Samsung) straight out of the box, with no formatting needed. It's just as the manufacturer describes - fast, sturdy, solid, well designed (cap fits perfectly and doesn't fall off), and completely reliable. It never gets hot unlike a lot of flash drives I've used, maybe slightly warm after a while using the 256. Good value for something that is clearly going to last for ages (they have a 5 Yr warranty). If you are using it with a mobile device note that it won't always fit with certain cases particularly thick ones as it's wider than a charger cable but it fits fine with the pink type case,(ie lots of space around the port). If you don't use cases though it isn't an issue.

Fantastic speed and quality in such a tiny device. I keep mine on my key ring on a clip off fob. Perfect. Very reliable so far.

Very good but pricy

I bought 2 of the the nice blue USB C type with a stated capacity of 64GB each. They come ready formatted as FAT32. Note that, when formatted as FAT32, the actual storage available comes down to 59.7GB from 64GB. This is normal and exactly what I was expecting. They are perfect for the USB C sockets in my new VW Golf due to their compact size. I previously used a 'standard' length pen drive, but kept knocking into it as I reached past into the under-dash central storage area of the car. These only project a couple of cm from the socket, which is great. I've had zero problems with reading and writing from and to the drives. File transfer is very quick with both my Mac and my PC's native USB C ports. I'm loading them with flac music files and my car sees them instantly and there are no issues with playback. Samsung is a good, reliable name and these drives are great value.

Why did you choose this product over others?: The read speed was a deciding factor for this purchase. I have no reason to try and verify the claimed speed because, frankly, it runs fast enough for everything I need. My reason for buying the drive was to load and run games on my laptop directly from the USB flashdrive and the Samsung does that without issue. I have just completed a large file transfer and the outside case temperature is running at 35c (ambient temperature is 28c) which is a lot cooler than other USB's I've used. In all, a great buy.
