Gold Tone Iucci Banjo Mute

Arrived on time, very easy to use, well made, gives banjo a quieter, pleasant sound. I am very satisfied with the seller and the mute.

Works as described, reduced the sound tremendously

Works totally as advertised. I own three banjo mutes, this is by far the best. First , it goes all the way across the bridge (fits under the strings), is very snug, and does not cause vibrations. This also has a small "handle" on the back side, which at first I was like, "OK" . However, without the small extension, it is difficult to easily remove a mute like this. With this little handle, it is super easy to remove. It takes the volume down perhaps 90% (only a guess), to the point that when I use this on my Deering banjo in another room, people in the rest of the house barely hear it. It does change the tone, but after a few times, you get use to it. Well worth the purchase.

Be careful. Installing this caused a string to displace and chip my bridge and then I broke the string trying to get it back in place. If you have a removable resonator, better off putting a towel inside than use a mute. Sounds better and no risk of damaging things or displacing your bridge. Using this installed had more resonance but with a more obvious muted sound where a towel has less resonance but less of a muted sound. Both were about as loud but had different sounds. Now I need a new bridge and stings.

I'm a piano player who, at the age of 35, am attempting to Scruggs-ify myself. To be honest, I underestimated the difficulty of getting Earl's finger mechanics under my belt, and my poor wife has been listening to the easy version of "Cripple Creek" for about three months now. Enter the Iucci mute. It has a shiny chrome finish, matching nicely to my Alvarez 5-string's chromed-out look, and it even reduces this loud instrument's sound enough to keep my marriage intact. I was previously using one of my 3-year-old's socks woven between the strings to silence things. The Iucci is far superior. Why didn't I give it 5 stars? I actually would have liked a little more mute effect. It reduces volume at least by 50%, but - for my household and purpose, an 80 - 90% reduction would be ideal. In my mind the perfect mute would make the banjo no louder than an unamplified Fender Stratocaster that you jam on while watching America's Got Talent.

Complete POS. Too tight on the bridge. Had to remove the bridge to take it off, which screwed up the tuning. Even watched the video from the manufacturer to make sure I had put it on correctly. Angered. Sending it back.

This really does mute it. The banjo still makes sound, it just severely dampens the resinating part fo the banjo, just you just get the string sound. Much better for practicing and getting fingers down, and makes rest of the house happy as well :)

部屋でバンジョーを練習するために買いました。体感ですが、60%ぐらい音が消音される感じですかね。私はオープンバックのバンジョーを使ってるからかもしれませんが、昼間に部屋で練習するには十分なミュート性能かと思います。 少し気になってるのは、ミュートのふさふさの毛の部分の劣化が思ったより早そうなところです。何回か取り外ししてるとポロポロと取れていきます。なので、頻繁に取り外ししない方がよさそうです。 Mike's Banjo Mute というミュート性能高い製品もありますが、アメリカから直販で買わなければいけないので候補から外れました。

This has made it possible for hubby to practice whenever he wants without disturbing other family members. Banjo plucking is very loud without a mute- pleasant to listen to with- even when just notes rather than songs
