Grandmother's Journal: Memories and Keepsakes for My Grandchild

This book is a fantastic gift idea for a grandmother to complete and pass down. The book is made really well and the questions are spaced out just perfectly with plenty of room to write their answers. It’s definitely a high quality hard bound book. It’s all to fast that the memory starts to fade and this helps to keep the mind active. It’s a great way to share the life story of the ones who are responsible for our being. Highly recommended.

Beautiful book and we'll organized and generations to come will know where they came from. Very detailed: family tree, where we lived when your parent was born, what your grandparents did for a living etc.

Bought it as a gift for a friend. It’s a very nice book. The prompts seem very helpful and the chapter organization of the book seems logical. I hope my friend likes it and actually fills it out for her grandchildren. They should enjoy it 30 years or so from now. I wish I had had the kind of information the book prompts for, from my grandmother. It would have been wonderful to know those stories and things.

IN SHORT: if you have young children, hurry up and buy the grandfather/grandmother notebooks! I realized that I didn't know much about my parent's lives as much as I'd like. They always talked to me from a parent to their child, but never truly as they would talk with a close friend. I bought a blank notebook for my father's Christmas few years back, asking him to write down anything he'd like to share with me, stories about his childhood, his first love, his first hungover, how he met my mother, etc. Sure enough, he never wrote in the book. My first born is going to turn 2, and I really wanted to get this information from my parents, so I could share with my children, but also for myself. It turns out, giving an empty notebook was too intimidating for someone who never writes. This is why I love these ones, they are GUIDED. Structure helped my parents write down. I love the illustration, the various categories and the questions being asked.

In addition to standard questions, there are some thought provoking writing prompts in the “Grandma’s Wisdom” section. Because some responses that could overlap, I typed out my answers so I could move things around. It’s definitely not something to be completed in a sitting or two. It’s a great completion of the grandmother’s life as well as that of their child. I previously purchased this for 3 friends and now am finally able to do my own journal!

I got this for my two aunts and my mother. I wanted to make sure details of their lives would not get lost in my memory. With close calls this year with some of my older family members, I felt it necessary to do this. I know they will love it and probably cry when they open it. I know when thumbing through it, I did.

I got this the other day and am going to have my grandma complete it. I love the prompts and am excited to see what my grandma writes.

Given to my grandma for her 90th birthday. We would write down the stories and facts as she told them to us. She said that some of these questions really made her think back, something she hasn't done in a while! There's plenty of space to write and it covers a vast range - from childhood memories, dreams growing up, meeting granddad, wedding, addresses of different residences, children, grandchildren and lots of questions to provoke your memory! :) Highly recommended!!

I purchased this as a present for my mother and bought the Grandfather’s Journal for my father and they both loved it. A great way to keep their memories and experiences alive.

Great book, a bit too American for me

I read the reviews before buying and they were all really good, therefore I went ahead and purchased it for my mother for Mother’s Day for her to give to my daughter one day. It was the perfect gift. The book is gorgeous. The colours are beautiful. The questions are perfect. It is actually better than I thought it would be. It exceeded my expectations. They could have sold this book for two or three times the price. It’s really good quality. I am so happy I bought it!
