I think this canvas is excellent value. I have spent the weekend stretching this canvas over some old frames, it has a lovely tight weave. I first tried using a drop cloth from the hardware store and found that the canvas just had too much give in it and was still quite rough even with all the gesso and sanding. So I decided to try this canvas and I'm so glad I did, what a difference! It doesn't really matter that it comes folded because the creases come out when you stretch it over the frame. Once stretched over the frame using heavy duty staples, I like to spray the prepared canvas with water and leave it to dry for a day and then paint three layers of gesso , finely sanding between each dried layer. The three canvass I've prepared feel strong, quite smooth, taught and robust and I can't wait to paint on them! I'm going to try building some bigger frames next now that I've worked out how to do this myself.

Good quality fabric but I ordered 5meters and it was 15cm short. If you need exactly the amount I would be wary.

Ordered 5 metres of this fabric to use for a replacement cover for an outdoor daybed, which I’ve used before and had no issues at all, sprayed with scotchgard, which I must add I had not yet done, was initially super happy with the outcome, there was a mark on the fabric, so therefore decided to wash on a 20min cold wash, unfortunately it shrunk to half the size, I’ve now had to order another 5 metres but will be washing it first before making the same mistake again, so if ordering 5 metres, I estimate once washed it will only amount to around 3 ish metres, please take this into account when ordering, this has not put me off ordering again, but just wish I was aware before my first order, hope this helps future buyers.

I bought this to make Japanese Aprons for friends Christmas presents. It's of heavy enough weight to just need a polycotton lining which means I can make the Aprons pretty as well as practical.
