Great appliance to have.
Love the convection feature. Will hold a 9x13 pan to bake in. Using the convection feature keeps from having to use the stove oven so often. Do not like the cream colored plate that comes with it. It stains too easily and will not clean well.

Great Microwave-Oven by Sharp it works like that little pink rabbit.
This was my second purchase of this microwave/oven. I now have this new one for five years and I still love it. The first one believe it or not I purchased in1992 in a brick and mortar store (way before the internet) and it worked until 2018. That's 26 years! I've had friends that thought it too expensive but I feel that the longevity more than makes up for it. Sharp has kept up with a quality product. After26 years I feel that my (it was dying) microwave/oven wished that I would let it rest in peace. So when I saw the same one on Amazon I replaced it and I don't regret it. It still works well, after five years.

Remains to be seen
I don't know why it is always so hard to find a black combination microwave and convection oven, but the choices are always very limited and the ratings are not great. Our last one was the predecessor of this one -- 1.5 cu.ft. and 900W. I would have liked a larger one with more power. The really big, powerful ones were the kind that go in range hoods over cook tops. I only found one other brand which had more size and power, but it also cost like 50%+ more and my Vice President of Finance (aka: "wife") decided to stay with this model, even though our last one blew up after 4 years.Oddly enough, it is more powerful than the old one which had the same 900W rating. We've had to adjust our cooking times down about 5-10%. Reference point: cooking a snack-size popcorn bag (1) takes 2:34 - easy to remember. It seems to me that it makes a harsh grind-y sound when it's cooking. Guess we'll see how long it lasts.Edit -- One year later (9/26/2019)The door's push-pad doesn't work well after using the convection function. Apparently the extended heat is doing something to it since it works fine when just microwaving. It's kind of scary when the food in the hot oven is done and the door won't open. The worse part is that a company we had used in the past to repair an older version of this microwave refuses to work on anything from Sharp anymore. The only other repair outfit we could find in our area of the state charges $100 just to come out and look at it. If they spend 2 minutes looking at it and say it can't be fixed, we're just out $100. If it can be fixed, then the parts and labor are on top of the $100. Too bad nobody else seems to make a comparable (and black) convection-microwave.

At last -- a company that cares about its customers, and listens to them.
I would give Abt Electronics 6 stars if I could (or even more). The microwave was damaged in transit, and when I called, they immediately arranged for UPS to come and pick it up. I spoke at length with their customer service agent, and suggested that they pack the replacement's carton inside a larger carton, with bubblewrap cushioning to protect it. Much to my amazement, they did exactly that, and the new oven arrived in perfect condition. This is the third Sharp Microwave/Convection oven I have purchased. The first, made in Japan, lasted 13 years. The second, made in Thailand, lasted over 9 years. We use the oven every day, at every meal. This one is also made in Thailand, and has several improvements over the previous two. The plasma display panel, which suffered from dimming of the most frequently-used segments, has been replaced with a brighter LED one. The metal turntable has been replaced with a tempered ceramic one. The old metal turntables blocked the microwaves from reaching the bottom of the food, and also drew heat away from it, preventing microwave popcorn from popping unless the package was placed on a microwave-safe plate. Otherwise, the new oven is identical to the previous model. My only (very-minor) complaint is that while there are the same controls, the keypads are in different places. (24 years of muscle memory down the drain.)Buying a combo convection oven has advantages even if you don't use the convection feature very much: it has tempered glass windows instead of plastic, and they can be cleaned repeatedly without scratching. Also, the perforated metal screen (that blocks microwaves from passing through the window) is much higher quality, with more holes, more closely spaced, so that it is easier to see through. (I don't know about Sharp's white model, but other white ovens I've seen have a white screen, which makes it much harder to see inside the oven from a brightly-lit room.)Be aware that this oven is heavier than most microwave-only ones, and you may need help in moving it. It's almost all metal, except for the plastic trim on the front panel. The oven interior is stainless steel, so there's no paint to wear through when cleaning it.

A GREAT PRODUCT
My wife and I have the identicalUnit only we purchased it in 1996 and still working very well. I am a retired micro wave and wave propagation electronics engineer.Magnetrons are not designed to have a life expectancy of this older unit.EXCEPTIONAL! The new one purchased is due to some folks that lost much in a fire. This is a God send for them. The new one has many user friendly control settings…no guess work to get great results. The price is very reasonable as my 1st unit cost many dollars more. Anyone needing a top shelf microwave, look no further than this one.A great deal of improvements,Side opening door for easy cleaning and a white ceramic tray rather than the baked enamel metal tray which makes cleaning a snap. Thank you SHARP, HOPE THIS ONE lasts as long as the previous one!
