Had a lug nut that was completely rounded, so I hammered a size smaller socket onto it. It completely rounded it again. Decided to try these. They worked, I was able to get the lug nut off with no problem. I highly recommend these for anyone who regularly works on their own vehicles or regularly uses sockets for anything.

I helped my son this week changing out a set of front air springs/air struts on his 2006 Expedition with air ride suspension. First thing to do... remove tire/wheel assembly. None of my traditional sockets would fit the lug nut! The 13/16" and 21mm were too small. The 7/8" was too big, and I didn't have a 22mm. What to do? Get out the brand new set of GearWrench Bolt Biters! I believe we used the dual purpose -7/8"//-22mm socket. This was my first opportunity to use a socket from this new set and I was anxious to see how they would work. This socket WORKED LIKE A CHAMP, both loosening and tightening... WELL WORTH THE PURCHASE PRICE!!! Without it, we would have been dead in the water until I could have purchased a 22mm socket. (Of course, my wife says, "Why do you have to have so many tools?") I had actually been looking for a larger set of metric sockets when I literally stumbled upon the Bolt Biter set. Great to know that I no longer have to purchase a larger set... I LOVE MY BOLT BITERS!!!

I had a rusted 24mm differential fill plug on my Toyota Tundra. The plugs on these are terrible--they're machined with soft corners from the factory to begin with, and the gripping surface is pretty shallow. First I tried a breaker bar. No luck. Tried heating it with a torch. Wouldn't budge. Added copious amounts of Aerokroil and PB Blaster. Still no difference. Finally got out the impact. All it did was round off the corners. I was seriously considering resorting to a cold chisel or welding a nut on, which I really didn't want to do. I have some smaller bolt extractors that are the house brand of a large blue store, and let's just say I haven't been impressed with their performance. But these guys had great reviews, are impact compatible, and are actually big enough to fit the giant plugs on my truck. And, the "minus" sizes are handy for someone in my situation with rounded off fasteners. I figured if they work, they're still cheaper than paying a shop to do who-knows-what to get the plug out, so I went for it. So I got out the 24mm extractor, gave it a the ol' tappy-tap onto the nut, and put the breaker bar on it. Nada. Uh-oh. I figured at this point there was no turning back, so I grabbed the impact. Three quick pulses of the trigger, and the thing spun right off. Didn't even need to try the "minus" size. Incredible. And unlike the big box brands, the socket was still in good enough shape to use again. Buy these things. You won't regret it.

Good quality set. These will save a lot of time and trouble. Nice variety of sizes to find one that fits good. Being Gearwrench they are a very good value.
