Works extremely well--no pain/no gain
I encountered this gizmo during a physical therapy session for sciatica. The therapist called it the "green thumb." But unlike successful gardening, it was not a pleasant experience having that thumb pressure applied to tender areas of my hip and back. While I am not a doctor and have no official medical training, I found that having my own "green thumb" was helpful to supplement my home-based stretching exercises. The device does help to reduce the pain.Of course, then there's the joke about the guy who kept hitting himself in the head with a hammer because it felt soooo good when his head stopped hurting--I dunno...your mileage may vary.

WORKS WELL ! RECOMMEND !
I work in the hospital, so I have a lot of back issues from helping patients move. This product was recommended to me by my sister-in-law, who is a chiropracter. This little device has made it so much easier for my significant other to help me massage my lower back muscles ! Instead of using his thumb as a pressure point, which he couldn't do for long and would hurt him, the knob on this thing serves as an awesome pressure point to get into my deep back muscles/tissue. It's a good size and is comfortable for him to hold and he says it makes giving deep tissue massages a lot easier. I recommend it !

GREAT MASSAGE TOOL!
I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 10 years ago and use the Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Clair Davies. Through the years I have tried MANY massage tools that were okay but this one is GREAT! The ergonomic grip really makes it a lifesaver for your thumbs. I have Pressure Positive's original Knobble and like it but this is an improvement on that. Because of the design, it allows you better control of the angle of pressure and the instructions show an alternative way of holding it that is very helpful. I like that it's hard smooth plastic because I don't have to worry about massage oil damaging it like a wood product. I still use a Thera Cane for hard to reach areas like my back but this is going to be my go-to tool for most everywhere else. THANK YOU PRESSURE POSITIVE for a great tool!

Only helpful if someone else uses it on you
If someone else uses it on your shoulders for you, then it can provide reasonable relief. I like that it's small for travel. It is of little benefit to use on oneself as you must use one arm & shoulder to work on opposite shoulder. Then, when you switch sides, you undo any help achieved on the first side. It's a losing battle on your own.

Versitile
I purchased this and another massage tool (the knobble) to help me work on my horse. I do some sports massage, acupressure and trigger point with him, but because I have tendinitis and arthritis in my hands and wrists, I'm not able to use my bare hands to work with him very well. As far as massage tools go that are made for horses, it's very slim pickings. There is a "Y" shaped tool made specifically for horses, but I found that it placed my wrist at a bad angle when working on his haunches, shoulders, and neck especially, and I wasn't terribly pleased with using it on his back. This tool in particular has been a great help to me. Not only can I use the tool with extreme versatility (as a single knob or a spread two knobs, or the rounded back of the tool itself, for instance), it doesn't put my wrist at a bad angle while working. Obviously if you don't know the basics of massage at the very least, the tool is going to be considerably less help (and possibly even hurt and harm), but if you use it well for appropriate techniques, it's wonderful.Someone commented that the knob was too short, and I really don't know what they meant. Too short for you to reach your back well? Um, yes, obviously. But too short to access deeper muscles effectively? How big are they? Granted if I want to work very deep tissues on my horse, I have to use my hands (more for the benefit of feeling it than anything else), but this knob does not seem to short for me, and that's with working on my HORSE'S muscles.I've owned the product for perhaps a month now, been using it fairly often, and it is holding up just fine. It still looks like new, in fact, and I'm keeping it in a tack truck so it's not exactly getting kind treatment all of the time. I especially like that it is easy to clean--a must considering I'm working with my horse, and no matter how much I brush him, there's still enough dirt and dust and loose hair to get on the tool. All in all, I'm very happy with it. But most importantly, my horse is happy, too!

Depends on what you need
My spouse and I massage each other at least once a week. It is a great healthy activity and promotes good positive communication between us. Unfortunately I have tendinitis in my right elbow as well as some carpal tunnel in my right wrist. Since I play guitar I have a very strong grip as well as very strong fingers, but with the tendinitis and carpal tunnel my right arm can be dead by the end of the day and giving massages was just aggravating it.So my main purpose for the tool was to be able use a thumb-like pressure without stressing out my carpal tunnel or tendinitis at the end of a day where I have been typing or playing guitar. The grip is wider and much less strain than using my fingers and thumb, it leaves my hand in a nice relaxed grip. I am able to apply pressure and massage using more of my upper arms which is exactly what I want. Those muscles are bigger, stronger and more tolerant of this type of motion. The downsides are obvious where you have a choice to use you hands, you can't feel the muscle as well and it is very selective, but in my case those are definite positives. So is it a wonder massage tool that will leave you feeling relaxed at the end of day, no. Is it an inexpensive, well designed tool to help apply pressure in one spot to promote muscle release, yes!

A great accupressure tool
This is the tool I've been looking for. Well made, lightweight, smooth, easy to hold Great for neck pain self-massage, especially the trapezius and SCM muscles. It's like your thumb on steroids. I wish the ball portion was about 50% larger, but that's a minor complaint. Grade: A
