Well made, strong and work really well. Hit top to secure with A WOODEN OR RUBBER MALLET ( don't hit with steel hammer as will cause damage ), and a good tap at the back releases work. Another tip, place scrap wood between workpiece and holdfast if finish is important as holdfasts can mark workpiece. Suitable holes need to be drilled in workbench to fit holdfast bar. A THICK workbench top recommended ( I built my own as bought ones are usually too flimsy...

I remember reading the reviews and seeing that some people were salty about having to mod them, or just generally not liking the idea of cast iron holdfasts in general. Not sure where that comes from. The pair I got hold tightly, didn't need any modding and in general do exactly what I was expecting. YMMV, but this was a well-spent $50 by my reckoning.
