Ooma Scout (to use with Ooma Hub VoIP Phone Device)

As this was a replacement for an older piece of equipment that had failed, I didn't know how it would be to buy a used replacement. The product came quickly and appeared to be unused! I installed it in about a minute, turned it on, and bingo, it worked perfectly.I would absolutely buy anything else I would need from this seller. The pricing was the most competitive and the product was like new. Definitely 5 stars all around!-bill

The Product was mistaken by me as HUB which is the heart of the Telephone line.The Ooma Scout works as an extension for the existing wired telephone line in the house. This product is not worth buying if you have 4 or 6 handset Cordless phones in your house with one base unit and other extended handset.

this does not work without the HUB which is like 200$ so this instrument is worth less without the 200$ hub.

It works as it is supposed to. However, my phone line configuration at my house does not currenly allow me to use this device (long story on personal home construction!). I was able to use the main Ooma Hub VoIP device and then piggy-back my satellite phones off of it with a multi-phone wireless setup. If I ever get my house wiring straightened out I will be able to use this device. It was delivered as expected in a timely fashion and I have no complaints.

I was skeptical. But this VOIP device simplifies my life. (I had Vonage before...) Setting it up was easy and it works like a charm! Not having to pay a dime more for phone service each month is the clincher for me. The only complaint I would have is that the Caller ID doesn't show the caller's 1 before their number so you can't just hit "call back" with my phone set but must key in the access 1 and then the caller's number. But this is no biggie at all. I hope Ooma stays in business and keeps their free phone service with all its bells and whistles (free as in free beer)!

This item does not work without the hub (the largeer station). I tried to return it to the individual seller and he wouldn't take it back. Through talking w/Amazon, he credited me back what I paid and just told me to keep it. SO, I can't tell you if it really works!!

You can hook up other house phones to the Ooma system without using the scout provided you are willing and able to disconnect your home phone wiring from external lines. The advantages of using a scout with extension phones are:1) Simplicity. Plug the scout into a phone jack. Connect the phone to the scout. Done.2) The scout provides access to the Ooma messages. Without the scout you can pick up messages from the main Ooma unit only.3) If you opt for a 2 line system the scout provides access to both lines from the remote location.I have the main Ooma unit and 2 scouts. The system works flawlessly.
