How Do They Do It!?!?
I love this watch. I collect watches of all levels. Micro-brands, mid-level, high end and I have so much respect for Orient. Yeah they do a couple of things that drive me nuts (bracelets with hollow end links and stamped clasps). They make their movements in-house. That is horologically significant. Even at this price point. Which brings me to the title of this review. I don't know how they can make such a handsome wristwatch for the price I paid (105 with tax). I wouldn't blink twice if I saw this watch advertised for 500 dollars. It's that nice. One thing is for certain. Pictures do not do it justice. Seeing it in person, the play of light on the domed crystal, the creamy tone to the dial and those wonderful blue hands. The strap takes a bit of time to break in but it's not bad. It's pretty. I changed it out for something less shiny and a little more "me". If you're in the market for a retro-inspired dress watch, you can't go wrong with this. I bought the white dial with silver indices because I planned to wear this as an every day watch that can play the part of dress up when needed. This looks just as nice with jeans and a t-shirt or golf shirt as it does with a suit and tie. Accuracy has been minus 2 to 3 seconds a day. Not bad at all. I was pretty surprised at the accuracy for a mass produced movement but Orient is a proud company. I've had a few of their watches in my day and all of them, regardless of price point, had accurate movements as good or better than any of the pricier watches in my collection. I have mechanical dive watches (Swiss Army & Seiko), mechanical chronos (Omega), quartz tactical G-Shocks, vintage pieces and some lovely hand-made custom pieces with Unitas hand-wound movements and this Orient is the only one I want to wear of late. So light on the wrist and handsome. Reminds me of all those great watches from the late 50's and early 60's that came from Omega, Longines, JLC, etc. If you're thinking of dropping 2 C notes on a Timex Marlin, STOP. Look at the Bambino. It's so much more watch for the money with a superior movement and quality. Look at them side by side yourself and the quality and fine finishing of the Orient is very obviously superior. "Amo il mio bambino!!!"

Classy, stylish, high quality and comfortable.
Just received the Orient Bambino Version 2 with the cream face and blue hands. I was looking for a quality, affordable automatic watch. I read all the reviews and settled on Orient. This watch is light and comfortable. Others have mentioned the band being stiff - that is not my experience. The band is elegant, high quality and not stiff at all. This is an outstanding watch. The price makes it a deal you can’t pass up! It has a vintage look that is classy and stylish. Although I just received this watch 2 hours ago, I highly recommend it!

Excellent value for money!
I’ve had this watch for seven years. This is the watch that launched me into the watch hobby. I’ve wore it on my wedding day. It’s still running great. It’s still in great shape. This is an excellent watch. Such a great value for money. This is a great choice for new watch collectors and seasoned collectors alike. It’s a little large for a dress watch but looks great nonetheless. My main gripe is the 21mm lug width. Other than that I love this watch. This is a keeper!

So Nice, I Bought it Twice!
What more can I say about the Orient Bambino that hasn't been said in all of the online reviews for this watch Nothing! But, if you do not research an item before you buy let me summarize... It is amazingly inexpensive for an automatic watch, in-house Japanese movement, it is beautiful, it's stylish, many variations, functions great, etc... My only minor complaint is that the band really is as bad as people have said in other reviews. It is stiff, it is not super comfortable, it feels cheap, and it is fairly small (I use the last hole to fit comfortably around my wrist). However I recommend this watch to anyone looking for a dress watch, an automatic watch, someone starting to collect watches, or anyone who wants to add to their collection. It really is the best watch for the money on the market! I did wear this to school (I'm a teacher) and I banged it on the chalkboard chalk holder while walking around my room pretty hard today and there was no damage to the watch on the case or crystal. EDIT: I loved my first Orient Bambino that I purchased a second one and received it yesterday. Now I have the black dial and the creme dial with blue hands. The creme dial looks great and is really easy to read. The blue hands are metallic blue and only appear blue in the correct light and actually look black most of the time. Correction, the blue hands are easily blue at work but seem more black at my home. When that light is perfect, the blue hands are stunning! I think the brown leather strap on the creme dial looks better than the black strap.

beautiful and absurdly affordable
very attractive, classy, somewhat retro watch. all my watches before this one have been pilot chronos, and i wanted something a little less cluttered and more refined for the occasions i need something a bit dressy. this watch fits the bill perfectly. for those worried about the size, be aware that it 'wears' MUCH smaller than the 40mm case diameter would suggest. im not sure why, but it looks positively TINY, and i didnt believe it was actually 40mm until i placed it directly on top of one of my other 40mm watches. even side by side, it looks much smaller. speaking of size... if your wrist is even a little bit larger than average, get ready to buy a new band (which you might want to do anyway, this is not a great band, unfortunately)... my wrist is SLIGHTLY larger than average, but this is the first time i have ever had a watch band that BARELY fits. it is uncomfortable even on the last hole in the band... all my other watches, ive needed to take links out, or wear them somewhere in the middle holes, so this band seems inordinately small to me. i have a barton leather strap with rose gold hardware to match the watch on order to replace it.

Fantastic entry level dress watch for someone just starting an automatic collection
This watch was purchased for my father for his birthday. He isn't a watch person and has worn pretty rubbish quartz watches his whole life. The watch has a gorgeous dome with stunning rose coloured roman numerals and hands. It has a 40mm dial (quite oversized for a dress watch and would be to Orient's favour to reduce the Bambino to anywhere from 36-38mm) and a lug width of 21mm in case you want to change the stock leather strap - it isn't the greatest strap and the aftermarket will do you some favours. He absolutely loves and I fell in love as soon as I saw it. The winding motion is smooth and the date complication is excellent. It keeps good time and it is more than accurate for the price point. Orient Bambinos are known to have a little bit of a rattle but not to worry - this is normal and the movement is a very robust one and will serve you well. I actually already own 2 Orients myself so I had no doubts or issues with purchasing another as a gift for my old man but I did have doubts about Amazon US (I live in the UK) - needless to say, the watch arrived quickly and fantastically packaged. Many thanks!

Time to sell my overpriced 'showpiece watches'!
What a pleasant surprise! I have to admit that my expectations weren't very high when I purchased this watch. But, Man, I am blown away by the visual aesthetics, the feel of quality as well as the accuracy of this Orient Bambino. It is running 4 seconds fast within a 24 hour period. That is comparable to watches I own that are 40X's the price. And, the price has dropped $16.00 since I bought it last week! Surprises: Orient did a fantastic job with the design! The dial, alone, is absolutely stunning in that it combines the new,( Rose gold tone Roman numerals for the hour markers) and, the old,( art deco Arabic numerals printed on the outer chapter ring for the '05, 10, 15, sec., etc.) All of which are accentuated by the vintage looking domed crystal. The case is very well thought out as well. It has a polished, tapered bezel over a brushed/satin case side that extends out to the lugs, creating a layered side profile which I find very appealing. I also like the over sized 'cupcake' crown which makes adjusting the time/date easy for man sized fingers. The strap also surpassed my expectations. It's quite comfortable, easy to find the perfect fit and I like the color which is dark brown with a nice burgundy tint, that compliments the rose tone hands/numerals on the dial. The signed buckle is a nice touch as well. Con's: If I had to nitpick, and I am..the date window could have been a tad larger. Other than that, I'm blown away by the amount of quality at this price point. It looks great with a dress shirt or a tee. As someone mentioned, the dial does have just a hint of mint in the right light. Well done, Orient. This is my third Orient and, it will most definitely not be my last. Time to sell the overpriced 'showpiece watches'!

Exceptional value, good aesthetics, solid mechanics.
Among the best value throwback style dress watches money can buy. The creme dial, blue hands, shiny silver Roman numerals, classic style crown and case all combine to make a very unique but eye-catching package. At 40mm this is LARGE for a dress watch, but it wears smaller than you might think making is passable under the cuff of a sport coat or suit. The band is pretty cheap feeling and is overly shiny, however there ARE plenty of 21mm leather options out there to find something to match your taste. The crystal is TALL, with it arching up over the dial a very noticeable amount, but it does not look overly tacky or cheap. It is mineral, so care will need to be taken not to scratch it, but it is clear and secured nicely. Mechanically this watch is sound. The crown functions solidly as advertised with a very satisfying and easy to use winding feature. The auto charging rotor works and produces minimal noise while doing its thing. The movement itself is respectable running +7 seconds per day for me. At under $150 this is well within the expected performance envelope. Overall an excellent value dress watch that earns its reputation on the wrist. It is no surprise this is one of Orient's top selling models. I will be wearing this in rotation with my other dress watches for formal events and given how quickly it is growing on me, will likely rotate it in with the usual business casual office wear from time to time. I took my first stab at Orient watches with the Bambino V2 Gen 2 and the Blue Ray II. I have not been disappointed considering how inexpensive the offerings are. A great alternative to Seiko for people looking for budget watches that offer plenty on the mechanical, construction and aesthetics side of things.
