Its a gavel. It does the job super well. Its also super cheap. I have a nice personal one. But this is great to loan to students and just not worry about. Looks nice, good size.

It does scuff after hard usage, best it will look is first day of use. Not sufficiently sturdy for real courtroom use. However it does make a good display of play-acting piece for the price. I bought it for a Mock Trial simulation for the judge role-play.

I bought this gavel for a teacher friend who was losing battles daily to a horde of sugar-fueled middle schoolers. The kids now sit straighter than pencils — not because of fear, but because they’re hoping to bang the gavel next. No students were harmed, just startled into good behavior. The sound block gives a satisfying thunk of justice that echoes through the halls, and it’s become the new school bell. Highly recommend if you want instant respect, or at least five seconds of shocked silence followed by laughter and order restored.

I bought this to use chairing a meeting. As much a gag as for real use, to be honest, but it does come in handy. It looks and sounds surprisingly nice for what I paid for it. It is, at least to a person without formal gaveling experience, really rather substantial. It does look nice as well. It’s a nice size, the weight is good, for chairing, auctioning, or other such occasions, I find this a very viable choice.
