Is it possible to love a toilet?
This toilet just works. No problems with flushing, stays clean, and looks great. It was a bit of a tight fit, so measure before installing. Measured standard 12" from wall to center of pipe, but a tight fit. We purchased the taller and longer style which has been great. I thought if anybody was going to complain about the height, it would be my ten year old daughter, but if I may be graphic, it is her toilet of choice in our three bathroom house. PROS: Stylish, so far has flushed everything (to those who clog toilets, I really wonder what you're doing and/or eating. A courtesy flush half way through would seem to solve the problem. I'm guessing a lot of toilet paper on top of the organic material). Film does not build-up on the sides of the toilet, stays VERY clean after two months. Have not had to take a brush to it yet and looks like the day it was installed. The lid I purchased feels different, but it is not bad as others have noted - but I can see their point. Like the slow closing cover, fits fine. I did take the advice of another poster and purchased a different lid than what I think is recommended. Definitely get the slow-closing lid if you have kids. Its been great not hearing a slamming lid on porcelain. Finally, flushes incredibly quickly and re-fills the tank fairly quietly in comparison to the old toilet. CON: Really the only con I have is cosmetic. The tank cover doesn't look like it fits properly - or what I'm used to seeing. We had the toilet professionally installed since they were doing some plumbing work anyway (so I can't comment on the difficulty of installation). Anyway, I asked the plumber if it was supposed to fit like that as it didn't cover the sides, just kind of sat on top of the tank. He assured me that it was the right cover, and that it just sits that way and looks a bit odd - but was indeed correct. I can see how the toilet seat can be a negative as it feels different, like it "leans" or "slopes" down and inward, but have become used to it. Again, just a different feel than the 'flatter' toilet seats, but not uncomfortable per say. CONCLUSION: I used my American Express points to purchase and on top of the more than 40% sales discount, received it for free. Would have definitely paid more, though, as its a quality toilet. It fills quickly and is quiet. It flushes very quickly and efficiently. I'm not sure about the engineering, but it flushes straight back versus the gravity swirl of older toilets. Give this product my highest recommendation.

Whoooossshhhhhhh!
I was concerned about buying a toilet off Amazon. I mean after all couldn't a thousand things go wrong prior to it arriving? Banged, bumped, bruised, dented, kicked, dropped, shifted, etc anything could have broken that toilet. But it arrived at my home safe and sound in 2 days. Installation was fairly straightforward (not my first rodeo when it comes to installing a toilet). No major surprises. As the instructions mentioned, do not overtighten the water fill line. I gave it one twist too many with a wrench and had a leaky tank. Easily remedied by emptying the tank, uninstalling the fill and flush mechanism, thoroughly drying each item, and reinstalling using only a hand tightening method. No leaks moving forward. As far as performance this is my second high efficiency low flow toilet. The Toto is by far a much superior performing flusher. I am absolutely amazed that so little water can move such a large amount of product so efficiently. Height of the toilet took day or two to get used to, but now it isn't really an issue. It does flush a little loud but it's not obnoxious by any stretch of the imagination. What I like about that feature is I know if the kids are actually flushing the toilet or not. No longer do I have surprises left for me when I go to use the restroom because if I don't hear a flush I can yell up immediately for them to flush. So, was it a little more than most high efficiency toilets you can get it a big box retailer? Yes, but as of right now I think the extra money spent on a quality product will prove to be a winning formula in the long run. Please do not hesitate to purchase his toilet for Amazon. You will be glad you did so.

Excellent Toilet
We have had Toto toilets for years! They are excellent even though they have changed a tiny bit over the years. If possible, I would give 4.9 stars because the flush isn't quite as strong. But they're still one of the best.

Powerful, happy flushing!
We regularly had clogged toilets in the past. Our last clog we could not clear ourselves, so we paid a plumber $110 to clear it. I told my husband I wished we had put that money toward a new toilet. Consumer Reports rated this toilet highly, but it was pricey. My husband, an engineer, looked at the design online and thought it looked good and different from other toilet designs. The hole in it is larger also. We decided to give it a try. If it is a good toilet you get decades of use from it. It came very well packaged. No damage. The boxes are heavy. And note it does not come with the seat or the wax ring. They must be ordered separately. My husband installed it himself. We were so tired of our little low toilets we went for the tall one. Big mistake! My 6'1" husband is perfectly comfortable on this tall toilet, but I feel like a little kid again sitting on a huge toilet. I am 5'7", so not short. You wouldn't think an inch or two would make much difference, but with toilets apparently it does. So really measure your toilets that you use and think about what height is comfortable for you. It is next to impossible to return a toilet after it is installed and you find out it is the wrong height. Back to the toilet. It is amazing! Flushes everything! If you have small children that like to flush toys or whatever though, this could be a problem. They could probably flush all the toys in their rooms down this toilet, no problem and the family dog too. It is pretty quiet. It has a very short flushing sound that makes you think it didn't flush correctly, but surprise, it does! We are going to replace all the toilets in the house with Toto, but will pay more attention to the height issue next time. This purchase was a test to see if we liked it.

My toilet brush is getting a good workout
Other possible headlines: "I thought Toto made quality products," or "$429 down the toilet." My wife needed an ADA compliant toilet in our master bath because of a bad knee. Ten years ago we replaced a 25 yr old American Standard toilet in the guest powder room with one that was ADA compliant, because of elderly parents. I discovered that the Kohler toilet did a poor job of thoroughly cleaning the bowl after use. Without being too specific, I have had digestive problems most of my adult life and #2 often times splatters the sides of the toilet bowl. So good bowl cleaning was my top priority. After reading mostly positive reviews from Amazon and other websites discussing toilets, I decided on this Toto toilet which advertises "G-Max Flushing System: Quiet, powerful, commercial grade flushing performance." Also this toilet uses 1.6 gals per flush where most others are 1.28 gals. Sounds great. My old American Standard toilet needed cleaning a couple times a week, but sadly, this guy needs to be brushed clean most times I uses it. Toto further says: "Fast flush: Wide 3-inch flush valve is 125% larger than 2-inch flush valves." True. Just a bigger opening on the bottom of the tank, so the tank empties quicker. But the water comes straight down in distinctive streams and doesn't give total coverage of the bowl area. My old toilet, I'm sure, used more water that 1.6 gal. per flush. This toilet is less efficient for water usage since now I flush one time to try to 1st wet the bowl down, a second time after I'm finished, and a third time if I need to brush the bowl clean. Progress. The toilet was shipped from a 3rd party vendor in two boxes, tank and bowl. Upon arrival I opened both to inspect and the tank was defective in that there was a white streak across the top of the beige tank where the glazing was poorly done. The vendor did ship out a replacement tank which looks OK. The first time I flushed, I heard a loud clanking noise. The handle not only moves up and down, but is so poorly made, it move laterally from side to side so the tip can bang against the side of the tank! Now I very carefully press straight down when flushing. I wonder how long before it breaks. We wanted to install a new bathroom floor since we were swapping out toilets. Our contactor was quite busy, so by the time she could do the floor and the toilet was installed, the window for returning this item had closed. I'm really glad my wife has an easier time with this tall toilet, but I'm not a happy camper.

It works!!
I am 6'4" and my sons are even taller so you can bet that we have more than our fair share of clogged toilets. After the latest debacle I decided to see if their is a toilet out there that can handle what we big men have to offer. After reading hundreds of review on Amazon, the Toto Drake seemed to provide the most cost effective and efficient handling of big guy waste. So I ordered it. It arrived in two pieces on separate days. Everything was packed well and there was nothing broken. Installation was straight forward ( I've installed many a loo in my time) with the only exception being the Toto base extends a full 12" from the waste pipe whereas most other toilets don't so I had to trim the shoe molding so it would fit. No big deal. Securing the tank to the base was also a little tricky but the rather simple instructions where sufficient to guide you through the process successfully. Once the riser was installed I was able to test the flushing mechanism out. the tank fills more slowly than the toilet the Toto replaced and the flush was very quick since it's a low volume flush. I was a more than a little skeptical that it could handle me and my boys. Holy crap was I wrong. This can that can completely devours everything I challenge it with. With old toilet, every visit required at least three flushes and a plunger. I've not had to second flush once since installing the Toto Drake. It just doesn't seem possible it can do what it does so efficiently. I was so happy and relieved about it I just had to leave some feedback.

This is our 4th CST744SL#01 for this house
We’ve been using Toto’s for years. This model was in stock for mid $200, then was only available from 3rd party vendors for well over $300, then came back in stock in limited quantities for mid $200 again. I get concerned when Amazon doesn’t sell an item directly. It indicates that an item is going obsolete. In this case it might be true because California appears to be setting a new 1.28 GPF standard. These water standards become counterproductive, as in my high capacity clothes washer that will not fill past 2/3. Which translates into running two half loads of wash instead one full load. If you're considering this Toto, get it now while it's cheap and easy. The comfort height and elongated bowl are a good size. The man parts stay dry during operation. One outstanding feature of this toilet is a totally dry courtesy flush. Lots of toilets produce spray up, this one just pulls air through. Courtesy flush for your convenience! And it flushes great! One flush and everything goes. Not a fan of the recommended Toto seat though. The shape is a little too square around the outside top edge. It’s not sharp, but other seats are more comfortable. And certainly less expensive. I like to use the nylon closet bolts. The brass is corrosion resistant but I like the nylon better. Also, the nylon was easier to cut the end off with a reciprocating saw when the bolt was too tall for the Toto bolt cap. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GIXZ4O0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 By the way, the packaging on these Toto's is outstanding. It wouldn't survive falling off the back of the truck at highway speeds, but the usual bumps from UPS/FedEx/USPS are no problem. I read complaints of people who bought directly from distributors (which is where I was when Amazon was out of stock) and the Toto was damaged by the LTL common carrier. Well yeah, those guys bent my scaffolding, so porcelain won't do too well.
