I was very impressed with the efficiency of this company. The kit came with very simplistic and easy to follow instructions. The company even provided a return envelope for the pet hair sample that required no additional postage. Once the sample was received, the company was prompt to send an alert by email and within less than three days they were able to provide a comprehensive list of foods/substances in which my pet was intolerant to. The report was conveniently sent by email and downloadable to my personal computer. The results were easy to follow and were color coded to signify the degree of intolerance. Upon receiving my results, I had questions that were answered thoroughly by a very informative customer service representative who had willingly taken the time to help me understand how the test works and the types of different intolerant/allergen testing that the company has to offer and was helpful enough to suggest the test that would best serve my needs as a pet owner. I am very pleased with this company's customer service relations.

I have to give props to 5 strands. I have used them for the last 3 years. They have saved my puppy’s life. He was born with so many allergies and intolerances and he almost didn’t make it in the beginning of his life. We didn’t know what to do. We did many allergy tests but they were limited to certain things and VERY expensive. I then did some research and found 5Strands and their results seemed to be very effective and has helped in many ways on what I needed my puppy to stay away from. He has many intolerances and this has helped tremendously. I do use it almost every week. I am having to make a meal with only the ingredients he can have. I unfortunately cannot do much on environmental intolerance… but the the food test works tremendously. The test is very easy. Just send in strands of hair and they will do the rest. Thank you 5strands for your app that I am able to access often.

Our dog has serious GI issues so we wanted to see if he might be intolerant to some foods, so we got a 5Strands test. I got the "raw" panel because I thought it would include the "regular" test's results + more, but it's a completely different panel that leaves out a LOT of essential dog foods/treats (peanut butter, for example). We got the results back and were flabbergasted to find our dog was, according to 5Strands, intolerant to most meats, protein, and b12. In fact, the B12 was a "level 3", the highest level where 5Strands recommends removing it completely from the diet if possible. Also, seemingly, our dog is "intolerant" to Chicken Breast, free range (Level 3), but NOT Chicken Breast, conventionally raised (Level 0). I'd love to know how that distinction was made and what the difference is that would cause free range vs. "conventional" to be on opposite ends of the spectrum. Here's what the NIH says about b12: "Vitamin B12 is required for the development, myelination, and function of the central nervous system; healthy red blood cell formation; and DNA synthesis " B12 is ESSENTIAL for living, so we were immediately dubious about the results and sent them to our vet. Our vet actually called 5Strands to figure out what their testing methodology was that could result in showing a serious b12 intolerance and they wouldn't tell him! I get testing methods are proprietary but to be so secretive that you refuse to assuage the concerns from a medical professional calling you to confirm results makes me feel like this is a serious waste of money. Wish I could've gotten a refund because this is as close to a scam as I can believe.

We adopted a Golden retriever who looked like he had mange after all the shampoos, creams, ointments, cytopoint shots nothing worked. About 30 days ago I bought this test in about 2 weeks I had the results sure enough my Golden was allergic to most the ingredients in most dog foods and these test know what ingredients are common because I had never heard of some of these things but after looking at all sorts of “allergy safe dog foods” they all contained things my baby boy was allergic too. I took the results and made him a homemade batch of dog food that he has been on for two weeks and the difference in his coat is amazing. No more bald spots, itching has stopped, fur has stopped falling out. I’m glad I stopped listening to the vet who wanted to give him injections and just read some of the reviews here. Please if your in a similar situation just go ahead and get this test done so you can start treatment at the source you will be so glad you did.

If you're looking for ALLERGY test, this isn't the right one. It is good on finding out what will help your dog have a much healthier gut and life. It's extremely thorough.

I had an absolutely wonderful experience with this company. I bought two of these tests for my dogs. One that I registered and one that I forgot to register. I was able to reach out to the company and they were able to quickly track down my dogs intolerance test. Destiny went above and beyond to help me and was super friendly and fast.
