Why didn't I buy this sooner???
I hate having a bunch of remotes for various devices, so I definitely prefer an all-in-one. However, I hadn't found one yet that would operate my tv, my roku and my vcr/dvd player (yes I still have one of those). Enter the GE Universal, and WOW - why didn't I do this sooner? I recently purchased an identical replacement remote for my Roku Express to the one I have in my bedroom, because I wanted a remote that would at least operate the Roku and the TV together, just like like the one I purchased for my bedroom. I even purchased it from the exact same listing here on Amazon as the first one. Unfortunately, the manufacturer changed how that remote is made and it doesn't work with my living room TV like the remote for the bedroom TV does. I followed all the directions and even reached out to their customer service department (no response). It just wouldn't work. Then I noticed the model number had changed on that remote - there was the answer. Waste of money to buy that, I guess! So, I started searching for something that was a true all-in-one universal remote that would operate everything I have set up - my Roku Express, the Sony TV and the Funai DVD/VCR (I still have this device because there are movies I enjoy that are out of print and I'm in the process of transferring them from VHS to DVD). I found this remote, and not only was it cheaper, but it was a breeze to set up and works wonderfully well! 1) Setup: This thing was incredibly easy to set up. It took me all of about 7 minutes to pair it up to the TV, Roku and DVD/VCR unit, and I've got room on the remote for a couple more devices if I ever need to do that. 2) Ease of Use: Works like a charm! Because it's a universal remote, you just have to remember to press the button corresponding to the device you want to control - so TV for the TV, DVD for the VCR/DVD unit and AUX for the Roku. Easy! This remote even has the little "house" or "home" button for the Roku - you can use that or the Menu button, both do the same thing. 3) Size/Weight: This remote is stylish and lightweight - it's less than half the weight of my Roku remote. Plus, it's not as small as the Roku remote, which means there's less chance of losing it. It's slim and has a brushed aluminum-looking face plate, so dust won't show as much as on a black remote (a petty annoyance, I know, but...) All in all, I'm very pleased with this remote and happy I purchased it. It was half the price of the replacement Roku remote I purchased. UPDATE: 1 month followup. Remote is still working well, no problems. So far, none of the problems I'm seeing others report (losing sync with devices, having to re-input codes, only working part of the time). Mine works consistently well, no problems.

Light weight, universal and easy to program
Very light weight. Easy to program (even without knowing the code). I have a Hisense smart TV with dedicated BT remote control. I also have kids that are not very nice with devices! I got this remote as an alternative control for the TV. I checked the manual but I was very lazy to read through it all. I jumped to the section of universal try and error programming. It found the IR code and worked very fine. Time to program: 3 min. I was messing with it so I tried to program a different device (TLC TV) and it worked as a charm! Also compatible with the sound system. Programmed very easily. It support several devices that you can easily switch between. All the main buttons are descent size. Easy to get used to and operate without looking. All that for very affordable price! and original looking shape and color.

Super easy to set up, master volume is cool feature
I use a Samsung TV with Fios Cable Box and Vizio Soundbar, and the set up process was super simple. Has an instruction manual with all the codes broken down and I only had to try the first one to get them all the work. It isn't super fancy looking, but it gets the job done. Allows me to use all the features of my smart tv, cable box, and soundbar with one remote. One thing I really liked is the ability to have a "master volume" setting. Which means that I don't have to press the aux button - the button I used for my soundbar - to adjust the sound. No matter which device I am currently using (smart tv - netflix, hulu, etc) or cable box, the volume will always control the soundbar instead of trying to adjust the volume on the cable box or TV, it's pretty cool. We have a DVR system and the controls for FF/RW/Pl/Rec all work with this remote as well. Lastly, the buttons aren't super intuitive, as it has a button "*" that is kind of the quasi button to do whatever is missing on the remote. For example, on my cable box, that button brings up the guide. So the button doesn't tell you guide, so you may think you can't control that. But, that button will bring it up, and it is right by the navigation arrows near the menu/other buttons so it is right where it would normally be on any other remote. One thing I will say, is that the "back button" (curved arrow pointing backwards) takes getting used to when using features on the smart TV. For example, if you are watching netflix and browsing a TV show, you select it to read the description. If you don't want to watch that and want to go back to the main menu, pressing the back button will take you back to the cable box - or maybe another input, mine usually goes to the cable box. Meaning that to return to the home page / last thing you were viewing, you just have to press the left arrow and use that as the back button. It's a minor inconvenience, but can trip you up if you aren't paying attention to why it is doing that. If you want to spend the money and get a fancy one, by all means. But, if you don't care about aesthetics and are competent enough to utilize the remote, it's a great purchase for the price.

Great inexpensive universal remote that works with TiVo
I bought this remote hoping it would work with my TiVo Mini (connected to the TiVo Roamio Pro). Happy to say it works great as an IR remote for TiVo.

Good product
Good product. I use it for my Samsung TV, sound bar and cable box. Nice to use one remote for all three.

Functional, but Could Be More Intuitive
The GE Universal Remote Control (33709) offers basic control across multiple devices, but those seeking a seamless experience might be left wanting more: Pros: Wide Compatibility: Works with most major brands, making it a good option for streamlining multiple remotes. Simple Setup for Popular Brands: Pre-programmed for Samsung TVs and Roku boxes, which provides a quick starting point. Large Buttons: Helpful for those with limited dexterity or poor vision. Cons: Code Entry Can Be Cumbersome: Setting it up for less common brands may require tedious manual code entry. Limited Button Layout: Missing some specific buttons that users might frequently use with certain devices. No Learning Function: Can't be programmed to replicate buttons missing from its own design. Tip: For best results, use it for controlling the basic functions of your primary devices (TV, streaming box, etc.) Overall: This GE remote does the job for replacing lost remotes or simple control. If you're managing a complex setup or want a highly customizable remote, it's best to invest in a model with learning functions or app capabilities.

Works
Small, lightweight and capable. Fortunately it came with well written instructions that included the codes. Worked with no programming required for newer 75” Samsung TV. Codes worked quickly for a Samsung Blu Ray. What the codes didn’t work for was a Sony receiver STR-DN1020 that is the heart for a home theater setup . Then I did the back up method called ‘auto code search’. Quite quickly it found the correct code and bingo everything worked. For full functionality on the Sony you have to use the huge Sony remote but for on/off and volume this universal remote worked surprisingly well. The auto volume controlled by the remote worked without programming. Now 1 touch and the TV and the receiver/amplifier both come on. Very convenient. Seems well constructed. Glad the buttons are not any smaller. No idea about long term durability but very pleased. We recently left Dish network in favor of YouTube TV and this remote worked easily for all streaming services we use including Prime, Disney, and Netflix.

Smart Remote for OEM Replacement
I purchased the "GE 4 Device Universal Remote, Smart TVs, LG, Vizio, Sony, Blu Ray, DVD, DVR, Roku, Apple TV, Streaming Players, Simple Setup, Auto Scan, Pre-Programme" after my daughter lost the remote for her Akai LCT32Z5TA LCD HDTV. It was possible to still use the console buttons on the TV, but wasn't very convenient. Akai no longer has a north American presence and provides no legacy support - including service, parts, manuals or software updates. This is unfortunate since the devices delivered good performance, were well made and continue to live on. Some parts, mostly used, are available, but I was never able to find an owners manual online. The other "universal" remotes I tried, failed to operate the Akai device. The GE 4 Device Universal Remote worked like a charm when I used code 3215. It provides full functionality, is pleasant to hold, the buttons and labeling are clear, layout is logical, operation is intuitive and is physically attractive. The buttons are a soft silicone material, which assists their operation. Instructions and codes are well written, clear and effective. Remember to have two AAA batteries on hand, as none are included. This remote is an excellent replacement for the OEM device and is actually a cost effective upgrade, especially when you consider its expanded functions. I plan to utilize the remaining three operations for a Blu Ray player, Roku and second HDTV. I'm very impressed with the GE 4 Device Universal Remote and would not hesitate to purchase again. I'm confident we will manage to lose this remote too. I have been so impressed with this device, I ordered another to reduce the number of remotes around the house. I've replaced a number of dead or lost OEM remotes and wish I had tried this solution sooner. The only issue I have encountered, is not being able to find four digit codes for programming of a Mediasonic digital converter box. I'm still working on this, but it is not a big surprise or failure.
