The rats LOVE these lava ledges. They happily hang out on them and chill, and they use them to manage teeth wear.The cool thing about these pumice ledges is that They function as a way to offer some options for additional surfaces to hang on while doubling as health management devices allowing the rats to wear down their incisors. They look sharp with various colors and they're easy to install.Durability depends entirely on the chewing activity of the pets. My younger boys chew them frequently (blue pic); my older girls use them more like a perch and don't do a whole lot of chewing on them (pink pic).The are a perfect size for small to medium-large rats. Big chunky rats can use them, but they aren't quite as comfortable for HUGE rats.In either case, they are great adds and we buy them as they wear them out. It's just part of their home amenities! You can clean them, and should do so for the ones that seem to stick around; but they are affordable enough to be part of their replacement routines.Can't go wrong here.

Amazon is the cheapest place to buy these. These do come in random colors and there’s no way of getting the colors that you desire. After a couple days the coloring wouldn’t matter cuz if you have active chewing chinchillas like mines. These ledges will not last long.I use these ledges for my chinchillas teeth and to buffer their nails down. These work perfect for them.Note: if you have chinchillas install these ledges lower and not too high. After some time the hardware won’t be as sturdy anymore and the ledge will rotate or fall off. Safer to keep these ledges at a lower height

They arrived fast and in perfect condition! Not broken or chipped. I Love the colors they selected, They will go great in my girls set up! They do have a really strong moth ball smell, but hopefully will fade soon. I bought these for my rats to help fill down their nails a bit, and they are great stairs!!

they climb & chew on these so much, super worth it 🩷 instead of sending me all pink like i asked for they sent me pink, purp & blue tho lol

Items to chew for your chinchilla or other rodent are a must to keep their tooth growth under control. I only had wood platforms and it wasn’t enough to keep my chinchilla’s incisor growth under control. I would have to take him to the vet every other month to have his teeth trimmed ($150 per trip). Since I got him these pumice platforms - his tooth growth is under control and I don’t have to stress him out taking him to the vet. He is much happier now!

I have put all three of these in my large rat cage and they help with their nails. I use “help with their nails” because ratties have very sharp and soft nails so these will do the trick if they use them but it is not guaranteed that they will.I would recommend for any animal owner using these for nail maintenance to watch how their animal moves around their cage and then place the ledges there. Also to provide one in a sheltered area as simply a “ledge” and not a jumping ledge. I used them as only a place for them to jump from for a while and I do not believe it was the most beneficial.Pros-I got all pink and purple when I asked nicely from the company which was very kind of them :)-They truly help maintain soft nails on my pets although manual trimming may still be necessary, although I will probably just buy more lava ledges because my rats HATE their nails being cutCons--Owner placement may make them less used- over screwing them in may break them- possibly no color choice :(Other than that great product for my girls :)

I saw a comment stating that this cost more than buying individually but these are larger than the other ones I've seen. These could work for larger rodents like chinchillas and rabbits to stand on (see photo) so my rats can probably lay on them and very easily walk on them as well as chew them. I'm very satisfied. The colors do vary which is deceiving with the picture but they're cute so I'm fine with it. Great product I'll definitely order these again

The products arrived in kaytee lava ledges packaging but it was different then the old ones I bought before. These ones feel flimsier and the metal part was circular, instead of oval which shows that these are different. When I tried screwing it onto the cage the lava ledges did fit but after tapping it with my hand the lava ledge became shaky, I tried screwing it on again multiple times but still the lava ledges were very shaky. When I decided to try and screw it till it would feel solid, like the old purchase of different model, it gave way and the metal rod detached from the lava ledge, rendering it unusable.Also the old ones were better, although one came with the metal rod detached. But the other two worked, were more firm and also came wrapped in plastic within the kaytee box. The ones I just bought felt very dusty and didn’t come wrapped in plastic. Overall I’m very unhappy with the purchase as I didn’t get the same quality products I ordered in the past.
