A few years ago, I had the honor of taking some of Leslie's seminars at Rancho La Puerta, in Tecate, Mexico. I have always read my horoscope, for fun, and never put much thought into what astrology REALLY is. I have learned that until recently, medical doctors, and even famed psychologists like Carl Jung, studied and often relied on natal charts of their patients. Leslie McGuirk's latest work is a wonderful primer for those who identify personality traits in their sun signs, but realize that there is so much more to how we are hardwired, and it is related to the time of our birth and first breath as an individual. Since communication is at the center of all our relationships, our mercury sign is of such importance, as we have more ways to communicate (and be offended or offend) than ever before. The writing is exquisite; as a reference, it will always be close-by: as I am married, raising a teenager, and trying to decode who I am in the world. "The Power or Mercury" is a must-have reference that will surprise and fascinate you, and hopefully enrich your life. There is no time to waste to correct the misunderstandings with those we love, and this is a keen first step.

I initially picked up this book at the library and after reading through it, decided to buy it for myself and have also bought one for a friend. I have it handy and refer to if often. Leslie has a true gift for making the material accessible to everyone, whether or not you are into astrology or not. This book has piqued my interest in astrology and I'm excited to learn more about it - thank you, Leslie, for such a great book that I will always refer to, either to remind myself why my husband drives me so crazy (he's Mercury Aries and I'm Mercury Picses) - fire and water, not usually a good mix for communiation but after 30 years we have managed. It helps explain perfectly and right on point every relationship I have.

Leslie McGuirk did a wonderful job explaining the power of Mercury in our charts and how it affects the way we communicate! This book has already helped me with a couple of people in my life I just couldn't seem to communicate with. I either got my feelings hurt or they misunderstood what I said or somebody got mad! Having the benefit of those folks' birth dates and reading the dynamics of their Mercury sign vs. my Mercury sign, it was as though the author had witnessed our conversations in person!! It was dead on accurate and since reading The Power of Mercury, I have modified "how" I communicate with those individuals and it's been amazing!! Amazing insight! Everyone should have this to help with communication and understanding. Everything I looked up was spot on and helped me understand why communication was so difficult with certain people. It also gave me an understanding that I did not have before - and that, changed the way I approached the communication. I love this book! The first part recounts the authors captivating journey about her life's coincidences brought her to study Astrology. It is a wonderful story. Without giving too much away, it was a reluctant initial encounter with astrology. A view that perhaps many of us share or have shared. Leslie puts your mind at ease. She takes an objective view based on objective astrological data to come to her conclusion. The second part of the book that informs couples of their personality characteristics using their astrological signs, for me and my wife, was incredibly accurate. This is a great book with a wonderful story in the first section and the second half is practical for couples. I give this book my highest recommendation. You will not be disappointed.
