Durable and good quality. Writes nice and comfortable to write with . Draws nicely and doesn't smudge. Rubs out easy and is easy to use.’m very happy with the performance, especially considering the affordable price. Lead Quality & Texture: The 4B lead is soft, smooth, and lays down rich, dark lines. It’s ideal for shading, tonal work, and achieving deeper shadows in drawings. The graphite glides across the paper with minimal pressure and allows for excellent blending. Artistic Use- This pencil works great for: Shading in charcoal-style sketches Quick figure drawings Layering graphite for value studies Creating smooth gradients It’s not too crumbly, so you get clean lines without too much smudging—though like all soft leads, it can smudge slightly, which is normal and even helpful in some techniques. Build Quality: The wood casing sharpens easily without splintering, and the lead core seems well-centered. I’ve sharpened several now with no breakage or issues. Great for Beginners and Intermediate Artists: It’s a solid choice for students, hobbyists, or anyone building a pencil collection for sketching. While it's not quite the same as premium brands like Faber-Castell or Staedtler, it gets surprisingly close for a fraction of the cost. If you're looking for a reliable 4B pencil that delivers smooth, dark tones and is perfect for everyday drawing or shading practice, the H&B pencil is a great option. Affordable, good quality, and definitely worth keeping in your sketch kit.

Not as dark as I hoped.
The pencils are not as dark as I had hoped. More grey than blackish, even the 2B. Otherwise a fair enough pencil !
