Netis WF2190 Wireless AC1200 Long-Range USB Adapter, Supports Windows, Mac,Linux

so ive been using the tp-link t4uh high gain adapter for some time now. I game a lot and download a ton so discovering 5Ghz speeds was a real plus. i started out with the netgear ac1200 which was horrid. at $70 bucks it wasn't worth it at all because it fluctuated so much, i was getting anywhere from max speeds to 6Mbps with consistency around 300. the tp link one fared better giving me speeds of around 500ish Mbps but it disconnected a ton and on startup did a loop of disconnecting and reconnecting for at least 20 minutes. This $21 dollar(amazon sale) adapter is perfect. absolutely great for its cost. I'm getting pretty consistent 650Mbs going through 3 walls and all the way downstairs. no problems either with disconnects like the tp link. works perfectly with the software given with windows 10.

Got this for my QNAP TS-253 NAS that I travel with and lives at the hotel. It was plug and play without a restart. Immediately showed up in the Admin GUI. The range is amazing, seeing WiFi networks from restaurants a block away and able to connect. Only issue I am having is connecting to open networks. Encrypted WiFi networks connect right away but unprotected ones seem to struggle. Took about 10min for me to connect after multiple attempts to different networks. This could just be the NAS OS being the problem, so I won't drop a star. Once connected, super solid. Plex is able to login and grab Metadata quickly. The USB 3.0 extension base is very nice to get the antennas into the open air. Very happy with the purchase. Definitely worth every penny.

The adapter is really good with strong signal. I have tried all the adapters on the market to solve my Wifi problem. However, they failed. But this one give me really good use experience. I live in an apartment with only WIFI to connect to the Internet. Why the signal is really weak and that is a huge challenge to the wireless adapters. I have used killer N1202 with an ASUS panel antenna, Intel wireless card with antenna, an Etekcity USB wireless card and they all didn't work well. Only when I use this, I can download things at a 10M/s speed and can finally play online game sometimes. This product, however, has no driver online for Windows 10. Only the old version of driver can work on Win 10. And to remind, before you connect this to your PC or laptop, forbidden Win 10 to update drivers autonomously. Otherwise, once you are connected to the Internet with this device and the driver of this is updated to a new version, it will stop work. You have to remove that driver and begin from the status you have not connected this to the computer. I spent more than 1 hour to figure out that. For Win 10 users who are not able to deal with driver of this, I do not recommend this. But after all, if you can handle the driver issue as I said, this will work well. Another thing I would say is that since I have seen comments report that this may be broken in several days, I will keep an eye on it and update my comment.

Like many here, I found this to be unreliable. I bought it specifically because it claimed to have compatibility with Windows 8, but it apparently does not. I ran it based on the stock windows driver, and then by one I downloaded from TPLink directly on their website. In both cases it would connect to my network successfully, and seemingly work well (good reception and speed) for a few minutes, then drop the connection within about 10 minutes.If you want this adapter to surf the web, and don't mind reloading the connection every few minutes during larger downloads (I suspect it overheats or something? It does not disconnect unless it's being actively used), this would be fine for you. If you require a stable connection to do things like play online games, this item is useless. Perhaps it could be fixed if I spent another few hours searching for better drivers, but I should not have to do that.

THE ADAPTER IS GOOD -- THE SUPPLIED CRADLE IT PLUGS INTO IS BADA couple of years ago I bought two AC1200 Netis wi-fi USB adapters (WF2190) for my two Win 7 premium home edition computers. They worked very well until a few months ago when they started dropping connections.Sometimes they would connect to the router for days. At other times they would disconnect ten times in the space of an hour. Removing the device from the cradle and reinserting it would reboot the internet connection but then, maybe after an hour, maybe after two minutes, it would disconnect again.I tried swapping the devices, but both exhibited the same behavior and both disconnected from both computers. I did everything possible to cure the problem but without success. Finally, I bought a wi-fi adapter from another company, installed the drivers, and plugged it into a Netis cradle that was connected to a USB 3 port on one of the machines.The computer could NOT detect the device. I plugged the AC1200 into the cradle and it connected to the internet but then disconnected itself a few minutes later.I removed the AC1200 and plugged the new wi-fi adapter directly into a USB port and NOT using the Netis cradle and it IMMEDIATELY connected to the internet. Then I removed it and plugged it into the Netis cradle and the computer could not see it at all.I plugged the new adapter back directly into the USB port and it instantly connected to the internet.Clearly, something was wrong with the Netis cradle and/or cable from the cradle to the USB port.I went to the second computer using the second AC1200 and unplugged the AC1200 from the Netis cradle and plugged it directly into a USB port. It connected to the internet and maintained the connection. I eventually removed it from the USB port and plugged it into the cradle.It connected for a few minutes then disconnected from the internet when plugged into the Netis cradle..I again plugged this second AC1200 directly into a USB port on the second computer. It connected and the connection has been maintained for several days without any problems.The new wi-fi adapter failed entirely when connected through either cradle and both the Netis devices disconnected themselves after some period of time when connected through either of the two cradles but both worked properly when connected directly through a USB port.The inescapable conclusion is that something is badly wrong with the Netis cradles and/or the cables from the cradles as AC1200 adapters.CONCLUSION: The Netis wi-fi adapter itself is very good. It works well. I am happy with it EXCEPT that the cradles it is delivered with which you use to connect the adapter to your USB port have serious, serious problems and should NOT be used.Plug the Netis directly into your USB port and you will have no problems. Very good product.Plug the Netis into the supplied cradle and sooner or later it will start disconnecting from the internet and will become unusable.

Nach acht Jahren mit einer DSL Light Leitung, zwei Jahre mit einer DSL 2000 Leitung und ein weiteres Jahr mit einem nicht funktionieren Hybrid Anschluss wurde in unserem Dorf endlich Glasfaser verlegt - und wir können eine VDSL 100 Leitung buchen! Problem: Das Haus ist mehr als 80 Jahre alt, in den Wänden sind keine Leerrohre verlegt und entsprechende Patchkabel können demnach nicht gezogen werden. Auch das bis dato eingesetzte DLAN macht logischerweise die volle Bandbreite nicht mit, sondern bleibt bei rund 30 MBit/s stehen. Einzige Lösung: WLAN!Ausgangssituation: Speedport W724v Router, eine Etage unter dem Wohnzimmer, eine Betondecke und eine Betonwand dazwischen. Auf dem Client ist Windows 10 Pro installiert. WLAN Empfangsstärke laut Windows: 2/3 Balken, allerdings nicht besonders aussagekräftig. Für die volle Bandbreite habe ich einen WLAN Stick bestellt, der den neuen AC-Standard beherrscht, damit das WLAN im Funkspektrum von 5GHz genutzt werden kann. Dies setzt voraus, dass Router und Client so nah wie möglich zueinander stehen müssen, mit möglichst wenig Hindernissen dazwischen. In der Realität kaum praktikabel, aber eben so gut es geht versuchen. Ansonsten ist das WLAN auf der 5GHz Frequenz möglicherweise nicht stark genug, um stabil anzukommen.Vorweg: Zum Messen der Geschwindigkeit nutze ich den NetSpeedMonitor. Vor dem ersten Start habe ich den Netis WF2190 komplett zusammengebaut (also Ständer und Antennen verwendet), an einen USB 3.0 Port meines Mainboards angeschlossen und mich mit Windows-Mitteln per WLAN verbunden. Beim herunterladen einer Testdatei bin ich bei etwa 30 Mbit/s geblieben. Stark enttäuschend! Somit habe ich die Antenne weiter versucht auszurichten und sie auch höher gestellt, nämlich auf meine PC Boxen. Siehe da: Rund 50 Mbit/s, allerdings stark schwankend. Der ganze Trick an der Sache ist folgender: Der WLAN-Adapter muss darauf eingestellt werden, ausschließlich den AC-Standard zu verwenden!Der Weg:Windows-Symbol unten links drücken -> "Adapter" eintippen -> Auf "Netzwerk & Freigabecenter" klicken -> Links auf "Adaptereinstellungen ändern" -> Rechtsklick auf den WLAN-Adapter -> Eigenschaften -> Oben auf "Konfigurieren" -> Auf den Reiter "Erweitert" -> Links aus der Liste ganz unten "Wireless Mode" auswählen -> Den Wert rechts auf "IEEE 802.11ac" setzenSiehe da: Die Testdatei lädt mit 90-100 Mbit/s herunter, zumindest als Spitzenwert. Die Übertragungsrate bleibt aber sehr schwankend und zwischendurch geht sie für eine Sekunde auch auf 0 Mbit/s herunter. Die Treiber CD wie so oft gleich vergessen und auf der Seite von Netis nach einem neuen Treiber suchen. Amazon entfernt den Link leider. Bei Google einfach "Netis WF2190 Driver" eingeben und den ersten Link anklicken. Aus der Liste der Netis-Seite den zweiten Treiber wählen ("Support Windows 10/8.1/8/7/Vista/xp") und herunterladen. Die Seite ist sehr langsam und die Geschwindigkeit liegt bei rund 50KB/s - und nein, es liegt an der Seite und nicht an der neuen Antenne. ;)Die ZIP-Datei entpacken und den Ordner irgendwo hinlegen, wo man ihn gut wiederfinden kann. Ich bin kein Fan von Drittherstellersoftware, deswegen beschreibe ich jetzt, wie der Treiber OHNE die WLAN-Software installiert wird.Der Weg:Windows-Symbol unten links drücken -> "Geräte" eintippen -> Geräte-Manager öffnen -> Unter "Netzwerkadapter" den entsprechenden Adapter auswählen ("Realteak 8812AU Wireless LAN 802.11ac USB NIC") -> Rechtklicks -> Treibersoftware aktualisieren -> Zweiter Punkt "Auf dem Computer nach Treibersoftware suchen." -> Über "Durchsuchen" den Pfad des eben entpackten Ordners angeben und am besten direkt den entsprechenden Treiber-Ordner der Windows-Version auswählen (Für Windows 10 64 Bit also zum Beispiel der Pfad "{PFAD}\Windows\RTWLANU_Driver\Win10X64") -> Auf Weiter klicken und alles installieren. Nach dem Treiberupdate hat der Adapter wieder vergessen, dass der AC-Standard genutzt werden soll. Also bitte den ersten Weg wiederholen.Danach den Rechner neu starten. Bei mir braucht die Antenne rund 2-5 Sekunden zum automatischen Verbinden. Das ist nicht instant, aber okay. Die Testdatei konnte ich mit stabilen 90-100 Mbit/s herunterladen. Steam lädt Spiele mit 10-11 MB/s (!) herunter, YouTube in Full HD usw. natürlich auch alles kein Problem. Wichtig ist auf jeden Fall die Ausrichtung der Antenne: Sie sollte frei stehen und nicht verdeckt hinter etwas stehen. Ich habe "nur" einen Speedport mit einer extrem schlechten WLAN-Signalreichweite, und trotzdem komme ich auf die angesprochenen Werte. Benutzer einer FRITZ!Box sollten also keinerlei Probleme bekommen.Troubleshooting:- Zur Not alle vorherigen WLAN-Adapter deinstallieren (Im Geräte-Manager "Ansicht -> Ausgeblendete Geräte anzeigen")- Eventuell andere WLAN-Geräte in der Umgebung abschließen und schauen, ob sich Verbesserung einstellt. Wenn ein Gerät nicht die volle Geschwindigkeit braucht, auf andere Technologie wie DLAN umsteigen, auch wenn es doof klingt.- Speedtests wie Speedtest.net oder Speedtest.t-online.de sind nur bedingt aussagekräftig! Am besten einen sehr großen Download über eine Plattform mit Highspeed-Anbindung starten, z.B. die Gaming-Plattform SteamIch hoffe, dass ich helfen konnte! Die Netis WF2190 Antenne ist auf jeden Fall für das Geld unschlagbar. Der Ping ist natürlich leicht höher und die Datentransferrate nicht stabil, aber das ist eben typisch für WLAN. Wahrscheinlich besser als Löcher bohren und Kabel ziehen.

Zu meiner Person. Ich bin Informatiker und arbeite ebenfalls in der IT-Branche. Mir ging es darum meine 120er Unitymedia Leitung zu optimieren. Habe auch ein Powerline Netzwerk (devolo dLAN 1200+ Starter Kit Powerline) welcher aber bei hoher Hitze leider dazu neigt sich gelegentlich vom Netzwerk zu trennen und innerhalb 20 Sekunden wieder zu verbinden. Das nervt mich natürlich, somit wollte ich eine Optimierung vernehmen um keine kurzen gelegentlichen Abbrüche mehr zu erleben.Ich habe ebenfalls einen Laptop, der über AC Standard arbeitet. Ich habe dann mit der integrierten WLAN Karte meines Laptops die Verbindung aus dem Zimmer getestet wo mein PC steht (4 Meter Luftlinie durch eine Wand).Siehe da. Die Verbindung 1a, gar keinen Unterschied zu den Powerline Adaptern und überhaupt habe ich über 5 GHz mit dem Laptop überall in der Wohnung perfekten Empfang und kann meine 120er Leitung komplett ausreizen.Alle relevanten wireless Geräte im Haushalt laufen bei mir über 5 GHz. Die Smartphones & Tablets (es handelt sich bei allen mobilen Geräten um Android OS, mein Laptop(Win 10) und das Mac Book Pro(MacOS) meiner Partnerin. Immer und überall kann man die komplette 120er Leitung genießen, das geht natürlich nur über 5 GHz oder LAN Kabel. Mit 2,4 GHz kriegt man leider keine 120er Leitung unter realen Bedingungen ausgereizt, da einfach zu viele Störstellen vorhanden sind.Warum dann nicht einfach mal rund 25 € für nen WLAN Stick investieren, der das gleiche kann wie alle meine anderen Geräte ?Somit habe ich den Stick gekauft und mir aufmerksam alle Rezensionen durchgelesen (auch die, die beim CSL-Computer WLAN Stick sind, denn es handelt sich tatsächlich um den gleichen WLAN Stick, den CSL aber halt einfach mal für ca. 10€ mehr verkauft). Die Rezensionen hier und beim CSL-Computer WLAN Stick sind als positiv zu bewerten. Somit war die Wahl klar. Netis WF2190 AC 1200 Wireless Dual Band Adapter (USB 3.0, 2x abnehmbare Antenne) wird gekauft. Am späten Donnerstag Abend via Amazon Prime bestellt und dann war er am Samstag auch schon da.Zum Design und Verarbeitung des Sticks:Alles sauber verarbeitet. Antennen sitzen schön fest. Station fällt nicht um. In der Hinsicht wirklich nichts zu beanstanden. Schönes Produkt !Zur Software:Die Software (braucht man nicht unbedingt) ist optisch nicht schön, aber Benutzerfreundlich und tut was sie soll. Daher kein Grund für die Abwertung. Treiber finden sich ebenfalls auf der CD/DVD und man kann sie natürlich ohne Probleme über Google finden und selbst runterladen. Installation ebenfalls sehr stressfrei.Bis hier hin ist das in meinen Augen nen 5 Sterne Produkt. Wirklich top.Nur geht es hier mehr um die Funktionalität und um das womit der Stick wirbt. Es geht mir hier um den AC 1200 Standard. Angeschlossen, Treiber installiert und erfolgreich per 5 GHz verbunden. Netzwerk hat AC Standard angezeigt und war auch mit dem 5 GHz Access Point verbunden. Internet lief ebenfalls.Natürlich habe ich anschließend direkt einen Speedtest gemacht und war schockiert. Über die 5 GHz Frequenz ein Download von ca 3 Mbit/s und der Upload lag bei 5.7 Mbit/s (siehe Bild 1), das witzige hier dran ist, dass der Upload tatsächlich mehr Datendurchsatz hatte als der Download. Das Ergebnis entspricht ja gar keinen Standard.Habe dann natürlich sämtliche Kanäle durchprobiert, nur hat das zu keiner Verbesserung geführt. Dabei lief der Stick im Netzwerk stabil zwischen 800- 750 Mbit. Was wirklich super ist.Danach den gleichen Speedtest über die 2,4 GHz Frequenz gemacht. Siehe da. Die Verbindung entspricht tatsächlich dem was man von 2,4 GHz erwartet (siehe Bild 2).Den Stick habe ich am PC getestet, am Laptop getestet und auf dem Mac Book Pro meiner Partnerin. Überall ein ähnliches Ergebnis. 5 GHz pfui und 2,4 GHz wie erwartet. Nur für 2,4 GHz habe ich den Stick nicht gekauft und will ihn auch nicht über 2,4 GHz laufen lassen.Ich habe schon ca 2 Stunden Zeit investiert um das Problem zu lösen und habe viele Einstellungen ausprobiert um irgendwie daraus schlau zu werden.Habe hier auch noch mal ein Bild vom der integrierten WLAN Karte meines Laptops (siehe Bild 3). Das ist ein Datendurchsatz, den man sich von 5 GHz AC 1200 versprich. Auch dieser Test wurde mit 5 GHz durchgeführt von der gleichen Stelle wie alle anderen Tests. Der maximale Datendurchsatz bzw sogar mehr als das wofür ich bezahle.Fazit:Nachdem ich mir reichlich Gedanken gemacht habe was hier das Problem mit dem Stick sein könnte, führte das zum folgenden Resümee:Ich denke, dass der Stick Probleme hat mit der Fritzbox 6490, denn es behaupten bzw. schreiben ja genug Leute, dass bei ihnen über 5 GHz alles wunderbar funktioniert.Also bestimmt ein guter Stick, nur nicht für die 5 GHz Frequenz in Verbindung mit der Fritzbox 6490.....

Technisch funktioniert alles einwandfrei, nur die Einrichting des 5 Ghz Empfanges kann man leider nicht als einfach betrachten.1. Zunächst ist es erforderlich die neuesten Treiber von der Homepage zu laden, da ich unter Windows 10 mit der mitgelieferten Software Probleme hatte.2. Dann muss man in den Gerätemanager (Windows+X) ->Netzweradapter-> Realtek 881AU Wirelesslan -> erweitert -> Wireless Mode auf AC umstellenAnderfalls sucht sich der Stick zumeist eine Funkfrequenz im 2,4 Ghz Modus, da er auf Auto eingestellt ist, womit die Leistung nach unten geht in meinem Fall.Im Haus sitze ich im zweiten Stock, der Stick empfängt zum einen das 2,4+5 Ghz Signal meiner Fritzbox 6490 zwie Stockwerke tiefer, zum anderen das Dlan Signal des Devolo 1200 Wifi ein Stockwerk tiefer (Dlan hat auch seine Grenzen...schaft es nicht mit vernünftigen Datenraten bis in den 2. Stock, liegt wohl an meinen Stromleitungen)Ich gebe 4 von 5 Sternen, nicht für die Hardware, die läuft, sondern für die Software , die für den Nutzer so gestaltet sein sollte, dass man die Frequenzen bzw den Modus einfach wählen kann (2,4 oder 5 Ghz), ohne im Gerätemanager herumzusuchen.Hier sollte man irgendwie besser hingeleitet werden. Bei mir war es mit suchen, lesen und herumprobieren verbunden.

The Netis adapter installed easily using the included CD, which also provides a monitoring function to show upper speed limits and signal quality. An informal test was set up between a Dell XPS 501 laptop (Intel i7 CPU, SSD, and USB3) and a desktop computer (Intel i7 CPU, SSD) connected to an ASUS RT-AC68U Router via Ethernet. The connection was via the 5 GHz WiFi and likely on 802.11ac but this could not be confirmed. At a distance of roughly 25 feet (separated by a floor and 2 walls) the speed was 23 MBytes/sec for a 748 MB file and the Netis utility indicated excellent signal quality. The Netis monitoring program indicated possible speeds of: Tx: 296 Mbps, Rx: 296 Mbps. When the separation was reduced to 6 ft in the same room, the transfer speed increased to 29.6 MBytes/sec and the monitoring program showed: Tx: 867 Mbps, Rx: 867 Mbps. For comparison, the desktop PC transferred the same file to a USB2 external HD at 26 MBytes/sec.
