I thought my mix poodle dog had to have short hair to keep the mats out. No, just need to brush often and go after the tangles when they happen. Just like people hair. I like this comb as its easy to hold and use. Its not sharp, not as much as I now realize would be nice to have. I was afraid to buy it thinking it would give my dog a hair cut. No, it just glides out the snarl. It is hefty enough to hold and not get a hand cramp. The tips are rounded enough to not scratch the dog's skin. It has enough tines to get some business done but not too many where you get too stuck. I use this one then a more fine tooth comb and that is a nice combo to keep my dog's long fur tangle free. I imagine it would work nice with thick coats and undercoats. I have another comb with with hook like tines that is great for the shedding short hair cats. These longer wavy tines are good for brushing out long fur. I'm happy with the quality and comfort to hold, its holding up well.

Definitely a must get if your dog’s hair gets matted easily. We have a shih-tzu/poodle mix and hair is constantly matted. This worked wonders and his hair is softer.

It works really well with pet hair. Be careful because you may cut yourself cleaning the hair out, I did!

If I could pick only one brush for grooming I would pick this one! Great quality and comfortable to use. Works great fir tangles and length.

I had hoped this thing would help me deal with mats on my cat's coat. It did not. The serrated blades did not cut through the mats, so I wound up just pulling on the mat, to the great annoyance of my cat. She was quite loud in her vociferations and left no doubt in my mind that should I continue, I might sustain grievous bodily harm. It is just possible that I was using it wrong. I wouldn't know; it did not come with any instructions.

This little combs is a miracle worker!! I have a Great Pyrenees with a super thick under coat. This pretty much goes through it like butter. It doesn't pull her fur and the side against her is completely smooth. She prefers this to a brush and it is much more effective. It is even great at breaking through any mats.

Works well once you get used to how to hold it .... you really can't switch hands when using it because it only works in one direction. Description says it's reversible but to do that you have to take the blades off to move the thumb gaurd around .... its just .... cumbersome and awkward which sucks because it would be 5 star otherwise .

This comb slices through matted fur like a hot knife through butter. Makes me happy. My pup doesn't complain. Win. Win.
