Open your mind as well as your eyes
To quote SUN TZU "he who harkens to my council shall know victory". Wise words from a true genius and although the book was written centuries ago and meant as an aid to military tactics it can surprisingly has great baring and influence on day to day life if you have an open mind and don't just read a book and see the printed word. Sun Tzu explains every point without giving a definitive or direct answer and by doing so shows the true path that you can take with day to day life and it can (if clearly thought out) make any troubles you may have easier to understand and resolve as it shows you new options that might not of been clear to you at first. It's not a big book and when you first see it you might feel slightly cheated but let me assure you the book is more then worth it's weight in gold and the knowledge inside is powerful, iv read this book over and the pages still even after so many turns show me new insight and for want of a better word hope. Forget those self-help power books that go on and on this is a must read and mine goes everywhere with me.

Brimming with insight and applications - a must read for everyone
What makes this book a true classic is the fact it has many applications: power-hungry politicians, corporate strategists, the army generals amongst Amazon and your bog-standard malcontent - although more definitely exist to be found. Despite societies moving away from primal structures, the relevance of lessons learnt by Sun Tzu over 2000 years will continue to persist. Sun Tzu teaches how to resourcefully beat enemies with guile and strategy, utilse superior knowledge of the terrain, and utilise lines of communication and learn to think like his enemy. This version, is differentiated by a) the price; and b) Tom Butler-Browdon’s excellent introduction which frames the relevance of this manual for the modern reader, provides information about the historical context, and characterises the most successful warfare outcomes. The size makes it commuter friendly as well as an easy task to finish. Given the brief and focussed nature of the text, it is not a book that lasts – but luckily the massive scope for applications leave enough food for thought that the book to have a lingering aftertaste. If you found this review helpful, please do rate it as helpful – really helps me out!

It's ok, I suppose
You know, after hearing so many references to this book over the years I though I would get a copy and frankly would have expected it to be better. This particular translation is not great either. I mean, it's still pretty cheap, I didn't hesitate but I would have probably just gone to the library if I had had the foresight.

A must read
Timeless. True when it was written as true as it is today. This is the most read book in prisons for a reason. Coz it’s a continuous battle. And this book tells u how to win it. I highly recommend this book. Even tho it’s easily found free online, it’s still an important piece to have in ur library. This version is well produced, nice illustrations and big fonts, detailed in numbered paragraphs makes it easier to highlight and remember. Spoiler alert: if u wait long enough by the riverbank, the bodies of ur enemies will start floating by.

The Art of War
An excellent slim volume of survival techniques from long ago and far away. Amazingly up to date strategies for honing decision making and negotiation skills. Whether you are a soldier, business person, housewife, chess player, or anyone interested in how philosophy can be applied to strategy will love this book. Why then do our politicians all who will have read PPE, Philosophy, Politics and Economics at esteemed universities, training schools for our career politicians, never appear to have absorbed the advice given by SunTsu? I know this book is on the reading list. When you read it you will see what I mean. The Army Advisors all seem to have read and absorbed it, and when they gave their advice prior to going into Iraq particularly, they were ignored. We are doomed to repeat history it seems. This volume should be on the night table of not just our leaders, but everybody interested in making strategic decisions. It could do with inclusion in GCSEs and A Level courses in our schools along with other philosophical writings to help us on our way.
