Pros: 1. This was well packed with plenty of styrofoam and protective plastic. So the parts were received undamaged. 2. The parts seem like they will go together to make a sturdy, attractive storage cabinet 3. Each type of part is clearly numbered with a part number that corresponds with the instructions for assembly, so anyone who can follow directions should be able to assemble this. However, cons: 1. Don't believe anyone who says that this can be assembled in a short period of time. There are so many parts (5 pages of them in the illistrated parts list), that it takes at least an hour just to locate, count, and check off all the parts. Each of the doors is in two parts. Each of the side panels is in two parts. And the back is 5, count 'em 4 panels! Just counting the screws alone, there are: 86 of the #41 screws 8 of the #52 screws 12 of the #42 screws 1 #53 screw 18 #54 screws 16 #17 screws 16 #16 screws 2 #55 screws, plus wall anchors, and 2 #61 screws So the person who answered a question about assembly, saying they put the second one together in 30 minutes was simply... I won't say it. But you know what I'm thinking. 2. At the end of my hour spent in parts inventory, I thought that the #53 screw was missing. That is used to secure the locking rod. I thought the keys to the cabinet were also missing. I rechecked the box and all packages. Definitely no keys or #53 screw. (see update) 3. The box was very big and heavy. This cabinet will be for basement use, and we are aged and use a stair climber to go to the basement. So we had two options for getting it down to the basement. Either use a luggage strap to secure it upright on the seat of our chair climber and lower it remotely, or unpack it, assemble parts of it upstairs, and lower it in assembled pieces for the final assembly on the basement floor. We don't have much floor space down there for assembly, so are opting for the latter. Update: We finally found the mssing keys taped to the door handle recess. I had expected them to be with the other small parts. But I have also read that these cabinets come with a variety of keys, not just one key for all. So that clued me to finally check to see if it was taped to the door with its matching lock. And there it was! We also finally found not one, but two of the #53 screws. When the instructions say to first do an inventory of parts, they don't tell you that far along in the assembly instructions you will find out that the #53 screw is already screwed into the locking rod assembly and you need to temporarily unscrew it in order to fasten the second rod to it. They also don't tell you that a spare #53 screw has been enclosed in the magnet package, marked only #23 for the magnet part. So I was really surprised to finally see this tiny screw clinging to the magnet. Once I had found these parts, assembly was time consuming, but straightforward. The instructions, were good once we had located the keys and #53 screw. I am a 74 yo female with lung and heart problems, so I spaced the assembly out over three days. Hubby was able to hold corners together, and support doors while I fastened them. A second pair of hands is helpful. I unboxed and assembled the door panels and side panels upstairs, and then took parts to the basement for final assembly. That worked better than trying to manoever that huge heavy box down our basement stairs. After all is said and done I am extremely pleased with the design of this cabinet and the way in which it went together to make a high quality, sturdy storage unit. I have recommended my son get one for his garage. He's an engineer, specializing in design of sheet metal enclsures. I know he'd like this.
