Best value fishing line bar none
I bought 200m of 15lb Spiderwire in grey in 1995, back when it first came out - I was excited just to try it. Didn't care about the price (it was ยฃ95 a spool of 100m back then), it was new and a slap in the face wakeup call for the sport fishing industry. As a wax coated line it was very smooth as it came off the spool, and even now - THIRTY YEARS LATER, after using it on a regular basis throughout every single season since I bought it, it is as strong now as it was when I bought it and it still deposits wax on the guides. It still breaks above the stated breaking strain in slow pull testing, it's so thin I have had it (variously) on a 20FD spinner, a Chronarch baitcaster, and currently an ELO Bakelite centrepin - and it hasn't managed to fill any of them. I've had to use lots of backing on every reel.Oh almost forgot to mention: never had a fish break the line.Short version: if you want a reliably strong line that doesn't stretch (I mean, AT ALL) and will last you a VERY long time (thirty YEARS and counting here!), you want Spiderwire. It's worth every penny.
